Some AI image generators embed code to identify them as AI-generated. Some AI-generated text documents do the same, but they are easier to edit than images, making it easier to remove the identifiers.
As stated, it is a tool, so it can be used for good or bad. I just fear that humanity will rely on it far too much. We saw this ages ago when they stopped teaching basic arithmetic skills and handed each student a calculator. We had a generation of graduates who could not balance a checkbook or make change at the cash register.
Now that the internet is on our phones, we don't need to learn anything; we just pull up a YouTube video and get the task done. My neighbor spends most of his days getting his "news" from YouTube, Facebook, and other social media sites. No verification. No thinking for himself. If it's on the internet, it must be true!
That is where bad AI comes into play. I am all in favor of it helping with research and exploration, but the keyword there is HELPING. Not doing it autonomously. People need to exercise their brains so they don't atrophy. But thinking is hard work. And as Wallace Wattles said back in 1910: "That is why so many people avoid it."
