Stottie Girl

I've finally had a eureka moment with foundation. I have tried and tried but always ended up looking like I had a freaky scary cakey mask on. I had pretty much given up on it but I finally managed to put it on and get it to look normal tonight!

After moisturising, I have discovered that if I put blobs of foundation on the back of my hand instead of on the brush or sponge and work it onto a foundation brush using my hand as a pallette I get a uniform skin like finish. I've obviously been applying too much foundation previously. Eureka!

I have been trying nearly all my life to get that right ha ha! I am a dozy cow sometimes!

This is how I do my BB cream. Spread on back of my hand then pick up with the brush and dab / slight strokes around my face. Then after brush on a light layer of powder. But I do use toner, moisturizer and a very light fruity primer first.

I don't use a brush to apply. I use a cosmetic sponge to dab all over. Then go back over and dab with a brush to give it a more natural look.

Glad you figured it out. The secret is always to figure out what works for you.
Congrats!

I don't use foundation. I just use a tinted moisturizer. Its simple  effective, and better for my skin.

As I'm just starting out on the makeup journey, I appreciate the advice.

I'd definitely recommend a good BB cream as a staple. It works like a foundation albeit less heavy. But does cover blemishes really well and smoothes out the skin. But a major benefit is the good ones have SPF. Using SPF is pretty important to avoid aging with exposure to daylight. Also they hydrate although I still use moisturizer before.

I love the simplicity, especially not being particularly inclined to have makeup as a big part of my transition. Just an easy way to maintain a good look without much effort.

If you wish finish with a powder but not critical.

I love BB cream too as a lighter alternative to foundation... I can be reactive to some makeup ingredients so use a lot of "clean" makeup brands... The BB cream I use is made by La Mav in Australia...

Onward!

A face not being on a good foundation can be troublesome!  Cracks may appear!

Hey Dawn!

I think the BB stands for BeautyBlend but ir is a lightweight tinted cream usually with SPF protection and some moisturizing properties... I use it in conjunction with a cream concealer under eyes etc...

Hugs!
