The last match I watched was between Australia and Japan in the Asian cup final in Sydney, Australia.
This was our girls, The Matildas.
If you don't know The Tilleys are Australias most loved sporting team.
The haters hate them so hard. They can't understand why a sport that ignored women for so long united our country behind a womens team.
Why would young boys want to wear a jersey with a womens sporting greats name on it?
Boys were taking up a sport because of our national womens team.
Our girls lost the final but covered themselves in glory for the way they never gave up.
That night was full of love.
Kids were so excited. So many same sex couples were there.
So many gay girls were squeezed in loving a sport that had been denied
I don't really like events that promote nationist pride because of what it can sometimes represent, but that night was a rainbow of happiness of kids and marginalised groups celebrating our sporting women.
Sadly the haters piled on after the 1-0 loss.
I have never been anywhere with a crowd that only had love in their hearts like there was that night.
(Oh, for anybody who doesn't know, our Tilleys are a team full of girls in same sex relatiinships. Don't the (cis dude) haters hate that like nothing else.
