Its such a shame you are so far away as I would pop over and give you a hand, I think we would get on well. I am suffering from yesterdays work, yes lack of strength and energy not helping. I have a 60s dressing table the ex gave me, one day I might get around to painting it as there are a load of nail varnish and remover burns in the surface. We all need a break my dear, I think I will have one tomorrow and do some flat cleaning.

@davina61
Thanks Davina! You have enough going on in your own life with all your car restorations. It's more than the house renovations really, I'm hurting a bit inside for other reasons but it's just that plus the house, plus the medical stuff and having to libe in male mode for so long it's just getting on top of me.

The good news is I am feeling a lot happier this morning. The sun is shining again in Geordieland.

It's a toss up this morning between going back to my house and doing some plumbing or heading over to this retro furniture place I know that specialises in mid century furniture. I know where I want to go but I really need to get the plumbing done lol!

Sarah, hang in there. Before you know it, you will look back at all the beautiful work and say it was all worth it. Having girl muscles are defiantly a disadvantage when doing construction. I feel your depression. Working in old work cloths, scratched and blistered hands. Day in and day out gets depressing. I was running some black pipe for gas lines yesterday and realized I was not tightening the joints enough. Now I just tightening till I can't go anymore.
You will get it done, hang in there, just a little while longer!

Have you looked in the local auction houses for furniture?

When I lived in Northumberland about 50 years ago I furnished my flat with nice, cheap, well made Georgian furniture from auctions in Newcastle and Alnwick.

And prices are much lower now than then!

Sarah, a turning point for me in therapy was looking at what I'd been through and then having more compassion as a result.

In terms of stressors, you've bought a new house, found there are bigger issues than you thought and you are having to work harder on repairs, you had to suppress who you are and had to move in with your parents, you started having health issues, you had to reveal your diy status before you were ready, your health issues were never really clearly diagnosed so stress is probably contibuting, you lost a close long term relationship, your reno's are taking way longer than expected and are costing more and you are doing this all alone.

Just one or two of these things in isolation would be enough to make anybody overwhelmed and depressed.

It would be great if a few of us could posse up and help you out for a week.  But I don't think that's possible.

Please be just a little kinder to yourself.
There is nothing wrong with coming here and venting a bit, even if all we can offer is a bit of compassion.

You do have a bedroom fitted out, so it's not like you are getting nothing done.

A big hug for you and I do admire what you are doing in the circumstance.

My solution would be to ball up and cry.

PS. I forgot you are on a diet as well!
And then one day you stop to find,
10 years have got behind you,
no one told you when to run,
you missed the starting gun

I agree with Petunia, "Please be just a little kinder to yourself."  Hang in there and keep plugging away.  You will get through all of this and, please come here if you need shoulders to cry on.  That's why we are here for each other!

I hope your weekend is going to be an overall wonderful one Sarah!

Always stay cheerful, be polite, kind, and understanding. Accepting yourself as the woman you are is very liberating.  Never underestimate the appreciation and respect of authenticity.  Help connect a person to someone that may be able to help that person.  Be brave, be strong.  A TRUE friend is a treasure.  Relationships are very important, people are important, and the sooner we all realize that the better off the world will be.  Try a little kindness.  Be generous with your time, energy, wisdom, and resources.   Inconvenience yourself to help someone.   I am a brown eyed, brown haired woman.

@Petunia Thank you so much for that, it does put things into perspective I suppose. Maybe I am trying to take on a bit too much. Kind of stuck now though. Just need to push on through step by step.

@Emma1017 Thanks Emma, appreciate it. Thanks also to you Gina and you Chrissy.

Really, the response I get on here from my incessant whinging is undeserved but welcome. You are all beautiful people! You can turn my mood right around.

Had a morning hunting around antique and retro furniture shops this morning at least which was really quite enjoyable. I think I need to break this up with more me time. I just need to push until I get the kitchen done then I can take my foot off the gas a bit, get moved in and do things at a more forgiving pace.

Core drilled through the garage wall today for a new drain run for a washing machine, got about halfway through pipeing the new run in but ran out of energy. Hot bath tonight to recharge then back at it tomorrow.

I think my edema is getting gradually better day by day. Might just be my imagination though, I do think my legs just look a bit more shapely again and less red. I'll take that as a win because I could do with one right now!

Sarah, there you go, some positive energy today. Yeah, you didn't get the core drilling complete, but you've got more done than yesterday.

You definitely need more you time.

Breathe, appreciate how much you've done already. Then just get the next step done.

You're getting closer to moving in.

You're not whinging.
Whinging is when you complain about the same thing every day but you do nothing about changing things when you can actually act and make changes.

That's not what you are doing.  You are stressed and venting the pressure you feel.
That pressure is normal in your situation. If you didn't feel that then I'd worry that there was something wrong with you.

There are lists around that give values against life stress. Yours is off the scale.

Which is why I hope you be a bit kinder to yourself.

And something else to consider, while you think you are whinging here, you have still be spending time helping and being kind to other people.

So while you think you don't "deserve" the responses you get, the rest of us think you could do with some compassion.
And then one day you stop to find,

Petunia, thank you so much for this. You can be really sweet when you aren't threatening to send lewd pics to me lol!😉🤣🤣

I never think I do any good to be honest, I just butt into other peoples conversations and force my own opinions and mostly useless advice on people whether they like it or not ha ha!

I'll try and take it a bit easier going forward. I'm getting so close to being able to move in now though. I can see a bit of light at the end of the tunnel, I'm feeling the urge to just push through but I need to make sure I don't hit breaking point.
