Penicllin interactions with estrogen / testosterone / or blood tests?

Hi folks,

Does anyone know if penicillin has any effect on estrogen / testosterone / blood test results? I can't see any mention of it interacting with the E and T but I wondered if penicillin can alter blood readings in our area of testing?

Background: I have an ingrowing toenail infection and have been put on a 14-day course of flucloxacillin 500mg x 4 daily. My next blood tests are in 10 days time.

I'm ideally after any informed responses please rather than well-meaning second guesses And ideally I don't want to move the blood test.

p.s. the background to the toenail feels like a SoB slap. I was having a feminine pedicure at a Vietnamese run place and before I could stop the lass she had cut right down the side of my toenail. Years of carefully managing the toe were undone and, sure enough, it's now become infected.

I've been reading around the medicine itself for this kind of infection and it's normally prescribed for 5-7 days. The fact that I was supplied a 14-day box might not be intended.

So if the toe improves I may stop the course in 5 to 7 days as per NHS guidelines, which would leave a few days before my blood test. Not perfect, but still.

Usually, with antibiotics, they intend for you to run the full course of treatment. They will sometimes include the instructions to take it all as directed. That is to make sure all the bugs are dead and don't return when you stop taking it. Is there a number you can call or an email to get clarification?

The toe is responding well on this high dose so I will take the shorter form of the recommended course.

I do note that this type of penicillin can have an adverse effect on liver function and results, so all the more reason to come off it as soon as healing has occurred.

Well turns out that I had quite a bad reaction to the penicillin anyway. My mother always said that I had an allergy to it which I didn't really believe. I've taken Augmentin in the past (Co-amoxiclav) which contains penicillin. But, wowza, the flucloxacillin made me feel rough.

So I've been switched to Doxycycline, which I've taken zillions of times as it's an anti-malarial prophylaxis.

I've been a bear with a sore paw but I really do loathe everything AI is about and the frankly evil West Coast tech companies who are out to invade and control your lives. OpenAI is just one of the wicked brands. So-called "cookies" are an appalling way to subjugate you. These companies, and Governments, really do spy on your every move in order to manipulate your life and bring you under their all-consuming control.

Off-grid and Green for me. For some time I've been seriously considering downgrading my already old iPhone to a simple text and phone one. There's very little I'd lose and lots I'd gain in terms of quality of life.

Brief update: the doxycycline did its work and the toe returned to normal. I was able to stop treatment 3 days ago.

Blood tests are tomorrow so hopefully my body will have restored balance. Penicillins and antibiotics, whilst life saving, can really mess with things like gut bacteria and liver function.
