Caitlyn Jenner appealed to Trump for help with her passport gender marker

Caitlyn Jenner's early April interview with Fox News host Tomi Lahren continues to produce headlines, as quotes from the expansive conversation reinforce what some see as a hypocritical streak among President Donald Trump's supporters.

In the newest portion of the interview to be circulated on social media, the Olympic gold medalist, who came out as transgender in 2015, told Lahren that she had appealed to Trump for help after the gender marker on her passport was changed from female to male.

"Recently, I had my passport, I had to get it renewed. I sent it back, comes back gender marker 'M,'" Jenner told Lahren, explaining that she had previously gone through the process of getting the gender marker on all of her identification, including her birth certificate, changed to female. "So now, I'm in a position, Tomi, that... What do I do? This is a safety factor. I can't travel internationally anymore. I can't use my passport."

Jenner said she attempted to appeal the change by using a standard form to flag it as a mistake, but her request was denied.

Well, she got exactly what she voted for.

To be honest I think there's alot of people who are seeing what a mistake voting for Trump was. It isn't just in our community.

Caitlyn, if you're here using the site for support, I'm sorry to hear about your gender marker being changed.

It's really easy to miss in the article, but she had her birth certificate changed... and they still changed her gender marker. This throws the entire "change all your documents and you'll be safe" theory right out the window.

Celebrities and activists will always be targets. Even Sarah McBride is targeted, yet she downplays her transition rather than making it the focus of her notoriety.

I think that instead of appealing to the President, she should have taken the issue to court and presented the evidence that the marker was changed as an act of discrimination. For most of us, the government doesn't have the time or manpower to hunt down every individual.

That doesn't make us safe, but it lessens our risk. This is where blending in becomes important.

Do you think her celebrity status had her application flagged, or do you think it was a computer or possibly human review that flagged it? I'd certainly love to be wrong my assumption of what's going to happen.

Just my opinion: her celebrity status drew attention to her application, and it was flagged by a human.

Of course, we know that DOGE stole all of our data from databases of many government agencies, and this Administration now has AI scouring records for "fraud, waste, and abuse," so we are all at risk of being flagged. Others have had their markers changed, too. So it could be targeting "influencers" to send a message.

Who knows? I certainly don't see the situation improving any time soon.

She said it happened when she renewed her passport, so this makes sense. The federal system checked her renewal application against historical information, flagged the discrepancy and the person(s) responsible for processing the renewal followed the current federal requirement.

My U.S. passport and state driver's license both contain an "X" for the gender marker. Fortunately, I won't need a passport renewal for several years so I'm hoping we'll have eliminated the federal government's attacks on trans people by then.

But it still steams me.

First and foremost people should not be disrespected by being forced to use the wrong gender marker period. That being said Caitlyn is a very selfish person who is only concerned about her own rights. She is not arguing that everyone can use the right gender marker just her. Even if she does get the right gender marker I believe that she will then advocate that everyone else should use their gender assigned at birth marker. She maybe trans but she is not our friend.

That makes more sense. If they looked at the historical record, they could make a "mistake". In my case, it was my first and only application, so the record shows my birth certificate and everything is the same. Hopefully, no red flags.

Ooh, hard to say because we're talking about the fed. While they're wildly disorganized at times, they do have access to lots of information about us. For example, gender records from SSA, HSA, HUD, etc. could be used to locate discrepancies, which would lead to flagging of your application. No idea whether or not they're doing that.
