Paradoxes, paradoxes, ... 😉💕

Quote from: KristaFairchild on August 05, 2026, 08:07:37 PMFact. Every time I go out in public or to work in a skirt or dress and full makeup I resist adding breast forms and a wig.
Also a fact. When I do this, I almost immediately feel that since I'm already obviously trans, why didn't I add at least the wig, because I like the way I look better that way.
And: I often repeat this back and forth nonsense.
Another of these ever present roller-coasters that are part of not yet being totally at ease with the public eye when in the new and shining armour.  The paradox? When not in the new and shining armour you aren't totally at ease with yourself.

Quote from: KristaFairchild on August 05, 2026, 08:07:37 PMThe other part says, "Girl! About 30 people at work really know you're trans and now you are considering showing up as Krista to the other 410? You're nuts!"
The 30 that know? How about the 130 that know? Or the 230 that at least have a hunch? Or the 330 that have received an e-mail with Krista's signature?

Quote from: KristaFairchild on August 05, 2026, 08:07:37 PMPart of me says, "Krista! It's time! People know anyway so go for your best and most authentic look!"
Well, they do know, don't they?

Be brave and bold! Many more of them than you think, already know. Most of them probably don't care, or are happy for you. The rest can <bad words here>, like Lori Dee said.
But I think you already know this and I also think you have already decided for yourself to be fully Krista on that day, but hearing a few supporting words here can be a good thing.
You've got this! Everything you write here, that I have read, says that you've got this!

To thine own self be true.

Out to self since March 5, 2026. My wife knows it all since June 23.
Integration ongoing. I'll cross the transition bridge when I get to it.

Charlotte Kitty

I don't know what your work is like and what is / isn't at stake. But I just gradually increased my femininity until I was Charlotte. Like you say by some point its fairly obvious so may as well go the full way.

Do you work Friday? Its a good day as most people are happy and its ideal opportunity to go full on you. Put on a smile, shoulders high, enjoy the day and then everyone goes home. Monday its normalised and you're done!

You can definitely do this. You've already done it really. This is literally there for the grabbing. Be brave, I'm sending you some if that don't give a.... energy!

Seriously messed up and broken demigirl

I did it! I'm truly and fully out at work. My work and community are intricately connected, so my transition is socially complete.

My wife was deeply affirming this morning before I left for work as Krista and she met me afterward to support me.

Lots of coworker fist bumps and affirmations. Triple that number walked right by me and I'm pretty sure it's because they didn't recognize me. Some said so later.

Thanks everyone for your positive supportive comments ❤️

At the risk of repeating myself, I want to store this day more completely in my blog here.

Today felt like a real turning point.
I attended our county office All Call fully as Krista, in front of roughly 400 employees. One of the first things I noticed was that quite a few people seemed not to recognize me when we passed in hallways or outside. The people I actually spoke with did, though, and many of them affirmed me in small but meaningful ways—warm smiles, fist bumps, handshakes, and words of support. A few people looked away, and I'm choosing not to assign meaning to that.
One moment really stayed with me. A very conservative friend who had once been quite angry with me, but who later talked things through with me, gave me a huge smile. The speaker also talked about the importance of showing up authentically, especially when we are different from others. Later, our superintendent said he wants to see no more student suicide in our county, and I understood that as including real support for trans students too. After the meeting, out of all those employees, he came over to me personally to check my preferred name and offer his support as both a friend and supervisor.
The rest of the day reinforced the same feeling. I used a gender-neutral single-stall restroom near IT, stopped in and chatted with coworkers, and nothing felt unusual. I went into a STEM meeting on Zoom meeting as Krista. A conservative professor from a local Christian university called me Krista without hesitation. In another meeting, Google Meet displayed my legal name, but the person I was speaking with still called me Krista. Then I joined a statewide environmental literacy meeting and, as expected, there were no comments at all. I was simply Krista.

My biggest celebration is the full support of my wife this morning at home, and then she showed up after All Call to check on me.

I moved through ordinary professional life as Krista, and people responded to me that way.

I'm also thinking more seriously about wearing my wig and small breast forms on most days. I'm out to my daughters, but I still feel a little shy about that part of my presentation with them, so that may be the next conversation.

For now, I'm happy to keep using "Krista (dead name)" for a while. It helps people who already know me make the connection instead of wondering who Krista is. A legal name change feels inevitable at this point, but I don't feel any need to rush it.

What made today meaningful wasn't just that people were kind. It was that I felt like I had crossed into a new phase where I wasn't testing out Krista anymore. I was just living my day as myself
