Conservative Christians are demanding the government require warning labels on LGBTQ+ TV content

Conservative Christian advocacy organization One Million Moms (OMM) is urging its supporters to demand warnings about LGBTQ+ content — and specifically content to do with gender identity — on TV.

This week, the anti-LGBTQ+ group posted a message to its supporters telling them to "send a personal comment to the [Federal Communications Commission], letting them know that the TV ratings have failed your family."

"When LGBTQ content is included in children's programming without being identified and labeled, then parental rights are being taken away," OMM claims. "This is a critical moment to advocate for a ratings system that reflects today's media realities and genuinely respects parental authority."

The call to action comes nearly a month after the FCC, under the leadership of chairman Brendan Carr, issued an April 22 Public Notice seeking public comment on whether the current TV ratings system should be overhauled to include warnings for the "promotion" of "controversial gender identity issues."

So One Million Moms and One Million Dads are owned by the same parent company: American Family Association. They're labelled as a hate group.

Imagine being so narrow-minded and ignorant that the mere mention of the existence of trans people (to you or your children) is unbearable. We're not the mentally ill people, they are. We aren't possessed by demons, they are.

When the pendulum swings back, I don't want to hear them complaining if we require warnings on right-wing ("Christian") content.

Yet another example of ideologically driven priorities.  Never mind real world problems.  SMH.

How about the hundreds of millions of Americans that are utterly disgusted with federal inaction on the epidemic of gun violence?  When will their voices be heard?

I would fully support strong warnings on content that embellishes killing.  Some of the programs on TV are little more than third-person shooter games masquerading as drama.  Young minds lack the maturity to understand how they are being conditioned to accept violence as a means to an end.

End of rant.

I need warnings on straight and cis content. It's removing my choice as a parent.

Going back to the Wikipedia article, the group previously claimed that only Christians were entitled to 1st amendment protections.

I'm sorry but this seems a little bit silly. What are these parents more scared of? That their children will be exposed to different ways of thinking or that their children will ask them difficult questions that they don't know how to answer?

Burying your head in the sand is not a good way to avoid the truths of the world.
