That is a horrible work situation because one cannot work all day and not use the restroom. I wonder if a compromise can be to use a gender neutral restroom for wheelchair access? A lot of places have separate restrooms for wheelchair accessible use and those are always gender neutral. Or a restroom that has infant diaper changing station and they are also often separate. I know that might feel like choosing a segregated path (because it is) but it does help with the workplace problem.

The trans aversion notwithstanding, but for me the most surprising (and most dangerous) thing in all these bathroom ban legislations is that normal people are more or less encouraged to snitch on trans persons' use of bathrooms. To me that gives real vibes of how things were behind the Iron Curtain back in the 70s and 80s. I'm old enough to know that well and I live close enough to that former east-west border to also kind of feel the creeps when just thinking about it.
The snitching, the uncertainty about other normal peoples' intentions is totally killing any trust in your fellow citizen - and that does really, really bad things with a community/society/country.

EDIT: I am actually reading a book that is about things like the bathroom ban though in a larger scale, The road to unfreedom, Snyder.

That's intentional. These people want to build a world similar to that so that they can keep control.

That is brave of her and I applaud her for it but it is a horrible situation to be in. Being sued by "anyone" for using the toilet? That is insane.

In the UK it is my understanding that it is not law that an institution or business MUST exclude a transwoman from using same sex bathrooms only that the institution has the legal RIGHT to exclude them. Then the Equalities Commision stuck their beak in and issued guidance that institutions SHOULD exclude trans people from these places. This is due to the wording of the Equalities Act.

It is NOT against the law to use one, you will not get a criminal record, you cannot be fined but those business have the right to demand you leave. I suppose if you refused they maybe have grounds for dismissal but it will be interesting to see how that would work if the fired employee sued for unfair dismissal. The whole thing is absolutely farcical.
