Massachusetts Democratic Primary: Markey defeats Moulton for Senate

Dunno if there are any other Mass. residents here but:

Incumbent Senator Ed Markey has defeated Seth Moulton in the Democratic primary election in Massachusetts.  Moulton had made transphobic comments in 2024 about trans athletes playing school sports. He apologized for those remarks in 2026 but his apology was widely viewed as a day late and a dollar short.

Hopefully this gives the Democratic Party the clue that dunking on trans rights won't get them anywhere, and will in fact hurt them.

Weymouthite here, but I left in 2018. I suppose he'll desert the rest of the LGBT community next, then people of color, then women's rights. You know, working the clock backwards. 😔

Moulton was running on age (47 versus Markey's 80) and "let's get the old fossils out of government", plus he made some unsubstantiated allegations tying Markey to Jeffrey Epstein, which Markey promptly shot down.

It seems there has been a trend where some Democratic candidates feel like they can pick up "swing" or "undecided" or "moderate Republican" voters by throwing trans people under the bus. Obviously from our perspective this is a trend that needs to stop.

Someone I know elsewhere said she saw a quote online, "In reversal, trans people throw Seth Moulton under the bus." 🤣
