Quote from: davina61 on October 22, 2026, 11:31:10 AMMy GP treated the granulation with silver nitrate after talking to Bellringer, only needed one treatment. That right side where I had a hematoma after sugary has never been comfortable, I gave up dilating but then I should have just gone minimal.
Glad to hear you are doing okay and are happy with the results.

You may have said this before Davina, and if so I apologise, but did they do anything about the hematoma? Did they offer to treat it? Have they ever acknowledged the issues you have had?

I'm really hoping mine will be a one hit job with the silver nitrate. I feel good and the odour just vanished but who knows?

One thing I did read about is to lay off the manuka honey for 7-10 days after the silver nitrate treatment because the two things work in different ways and you can affect the way the s.n. is working on the tissue.

I'm so sorry again for the issues you had Davina.

It burst/ cleared after a few days, might be when it sloughed but that was the place that needed the nitrate. Not bothered TBH as not with anyone and unlikely to be, quite happy doing my own stuff. I am the strange old lady covered in dust and oil that drives like an F1 driver!!!

Quote from: Tills on October 20, 2026, 11:48:20 PMOne other thing to mention: some sites suggest several follow up silver nitrate treatments are needed. There is no mechanism at Parkside for such appointments so I have to wait until Dec 01st for my regular 3-month check up when further silver nitrate will be applied if needed.

Mr Bellringer did offer me to treat myself at home with silver nitrate, but having previously read some horror stories about doing this DIY I declined.

I had Bellringer do silver nitrate 7 weeks after surgery in Wimbledon - it was an amazing effect, in 2 days the skin had basically healed over and no more bleeding or any granulation - I would not do it myself personally, it is nasty stuff and the guy knows what he is doing.. one treatment for me and everything was sunshine..
Oh no I've said too much
I haven't said enough

Please Note: Everything I write is my own opinion - People seem to get confused  over this

That's really encouraging Sarah, thank you.

Tentative signs are similar. An amazing amount of gunk came out the first 24 hours after the treatment, since when I feel healed. That horrible granulation odour vanished instantly. The fact that I felt up to a 7 mile hike yesterday tells me things are coming right now.

Edit. I've had a site inspecion. The silver nitrate looks like it has zapped vast areas of granulation inside the labia and vaginal canal.
There is now one raw sore spot at the base of the V. This isn't at the moment granulation though: it's raw flesh, as it were. So the granulation lump which previously covered it has come off. I'm not sure now whether to slather this with manuka honey at night or just to leave it. Any knowledgeable answers on this gratefully received.

Wow that sounds like a gruelling recovery, but hopefully it'll all be sorted very soon. Absolutely worth it though. Unfortunately minor complications are fairly common.

I'm praying I don't get any as I'm back at work after 3-4 weeks. Will be buffering up my health in advance.

Thanks Charlotte Kitty. Yeah it has been pretty tough.

I'm 8 weeks today. I'd say that in my case I wouldn't have wanted / been able to work until about the 6 week point. But, as you rightly say, I've had some complications. The granulation was extensive and it was incredibly sore. If you don't get any of that I see no reason why you can't bounce back strongly in much shorter time. And by the look of your avatar photo you're a good bit younger than me which I'm sure helps too, all things being equal.

I was pretty fit in the run up to the op: hiking lots with an average of around 16,000 steps a day. Anything you can do to build up muscle and general health in your legs, thighs, buttocks, pelvis, groin is going to help. Things like squat thrusts etc would definitely help, providing you don't pull anything lol. With hindsight I might have done some yoga and/or pilates.

There are stories of people having sex 2 weeks or less after the op which, to me, is eye-watering. But I believe that if you get fit in advance it's possible to bounce back fast from this.

On the latter subject ... and apologies if this is tmi ... today is the first day when I had a little play around the clitoris area 😚. I could definitely have orgasmed if I'd wanted to but I'm taking things cautiously at the moment until I'm more healed.

Thanks and from what you say its certainly possible. Will keep a positive mind it'll go well. I do legs, bums and tums classes which sound ideal from what you mention. All those squats and pelvic work. And regular running and swimming.

I can't imagine 2 weeks but after FFS i was back in 2 weeks, although much less intense op.

Definitely not tmi for me 😊 That sounds really nice and very exciting!

I was driving and food shopping after a few weeks but still a bit sore 6 weeks later, not sure I would have been fit for my manual job . Lost my time line when site crashed.

16,000 steps yesterday (7.5 miles) and feeling almost back to normal, or normal+ (vagina!). The silver nitrate treatment last week seems to have made a big difference.

It's so lush being able to wear leggings when out on my hikes. Joy of absolute joys.

Unless there's anything untoward, hopefully not, I'll post one more update on sign-off from Mr Bellringer.
