Though I prefer the Mstislav Rostropovich version, a bit more sprightly

And, once upon a time, like back in the mid 90s, Vanessa-Mae was a good classical player.

But I prefer it with a vocalist like in this one.

Maybe it's just the sixties lover in me, but I always liked the Swingle Singers doing Bach.  Swing choir meets the classics.

The very cold and gray weather like winter has really set in has given me a powerful hankerin' for some Chopin.  I have four sets by different piano players including Alicia del la Rocha, Horowitz (of course, how could you not), Ivan Moravec (the guy that the Chopin lovers really love) and Krystian Zimerman (my fav).  Once I start playing the Chopin it can go on for days, the nocturnes into the mazurkas, waltzes, polonaises and études.  His output was mighty and the depth of his emotion truly limitless. Yet despite the intense emotion (or perhaps because of it) the beauty of the notes and spaces between the notes is so simple and delicate.

Koopman is really one of the best.  Awesome technique.

It never ceases to amaze me how fast he does the Dm Tocatta and Fugue. I've heard it live by various organists, but Koopman shaves almost a minute off the thing.
