stranger in my mirror

There's a stranger in my mirror
I feel like I should know him
but I just want him out

he's always been a stranger
but not as strange as me.
I try my best to hide him
And to see the bits of me

If I see too much him I feel quite ill
His ugliness is sickening
If only there was a pill

I know that the stranger
Is not me, just a mask
Built of hurt & fear
I need to kick him out
And let him know
who the boss is here

I try to hide the mask
I'm insulted when I do
Fear takes over so I comply
But I try to stay kinda true

Boxes
I don't fit in your boxes
You say I must conform
You're lucky to find a box
But I don't fit the norm

Every time you label me
You squeeze me down to size
Don't deny me the chance
To find my little prize

Do not deny me the use of an umbrella
Because you see it as a box
I'm a weird Transgender
Who sits outside the box.

I'm not confused
I know what I am
But words don't exist that explain
The beautiful gift I am
I don't want to be a man there from Mars
I'd Like to be a woman Venus looks beautiful
I'm enjoying living on Pluto, but it is a bit lonely

That  first poem strikes home. It is partly how I described why I need to transition when I first came out.

They seem to fit.  Especially to me.  Good Job, Kinkly.

"I have always wanted to have a neighbor just like you,
I've always wanted to live in a neighborhood with you.

So let's make the most of this beautiful day,
Since we're together, we might as well say,
Would you be mine?
Could you be mine?
Won't you be my neighbor?" - Fred Rogers
