Poll
Question:
Which cranberry sauce?
Option 1: The good stuff, round with lines from the can
votes: 12
Option 2: Icky homemade cranberry sauce
votes: 13
I think the poll indicates what I feel is the proper side dish for Thanksgiving!
Agreed. While I am willing to concede that there might be good homemade cranberry sauce in the world, I also have to say that I have not yet tasted any.
My mom goes heavy on the cranberries giving it a somewhat tart taste. I will eat either one but my mom's is better.
This poll looks rigged to me
Huh?

Rigged I say!
One pound bag fresh cranberries , one cup sugar and one cup champagne, mix and simmer until cranberries are soft remove from heat and let cool .
I had a knock down drag out fight over cranberries one Thanksgiving back in the old days. It is a tough subject for me, so maybe I need a trigger warning on the cranberry posts.
Moni
Easy Moni, calm yourself.
Oh 'polls' are also a tough subject for me too, Too many bad memories.
Bad night Moni, bad night. :o
I like to include orange chunks in mine, but otherwise it's "canberry" as my trashy friends call it:)
Bari Jo
Yes, rigged I say as well
I make an awesome fresh cranberry/orange sauce
The only use for that canned stuff is catapult fodder
This stuff is available without the can?
I blame the Russians :D

I am from Wisconsin and they would have piles of the stuff in the stores. Even now sometimes our relatives will mail us a box full of them for a Christmas present. On the other hand, sometimes we will ship them a big box of Oranges.
The problem the Navy is dealing with is deciding what caliber cannon would be best suited for launching the cans upon the enemy
Sorry Dev but I think the can stuff is too sweet and too much like jello.

This woman knows her cranberry sauce..
As a hideously lazy cook, if it comes in a packet/can/jar/box, i'm there :)
I will however then try to enhance by adding more to customize/tune.

Honey in place of sugar and use orange juice. Maybe I'll have to give the champagne a try if I'm cooking this year.
The Ocean Spray whole berry canned type is ok for most other days.
Either way my wife will still make me get a can of the jellied blob type. Edible, but why?

To be truthful, I've never had home made cranberry sauce. It sound nicer though, so I would like to try it. Some of the recipes sound good.
It's ok with can opener and 箸 chopsticks.
My grandma always had the jellied cranberry from a can. I don't like it but everyone else did. The first year I did thanksgiving dinner I made home made cranberry sauce. It had chopped walnuts and chopped apple in it. My brother asked what it was and I told him cranberry sauce. Then he asked me why there were berries in it and why it was liquidy instead of like Jell-O. He actually thought I tried to make that jellied stuff and messed it up! Everyone ate some but only a tiny little bit. Like pity eating, when you know something's bad but you don't want to hurt someone's feelings. My family can be such rubes about some things. So now it's canned cranberry in a dish. They like that they can slice it. Sigh.....
Where's the "Neither, all cranberry sauce is super gross and should never be consumed by humans" option? ... That's right, I went there. ;D

Lol, I don't like cranberries especially myself. I only deal with cranberry during the holidays because the rest of my family likes it. Just like I make pea salad for my dad because he likes peas even though they are totally gross and nasty. I'm nice that way. Lol

Best use of champagne!
Best use of cranberry sauce is in this recipe. I've been making it for about 7 years running.

No, Bari Jo. That's just so wrong. Beside not liking a few of the ingredients it is just wrong to throw it all together and make it look like a dessert.

I've seen them before, they are popular enough. For me though I will have nothing but blueberry when it comes to fruit on cheesecake. (Seriously, everyone of you who gets strawberry cheesecake over like a brownie or oreo cheesecake is nuts! Don't ruin a good dessert with healthy stuff! ;D)
That would be just deserts.

Yeah, since I don't like cranberries by themselves I wouldn't risk putting them in cheese cake. I have made a pumpkin cheesecake and an eggnog cheese cake. They were both really good.

I'll side with the Devyln on this one.
Ah yes, evil stir fry - Always a Thanksgiving hit >:-)
Today I picked up a bag of cranberries, an orange and I think I'll add a bit of pineapple, coconut and walnuts this year

The best way to use cranberry's is to make a chocolate cheesecake and use the can of cranberry's as a door stop.
That is an insult to good door stops everywhere. ;D

I haven't cast my vote, it is therefore open to be purchased to the highest bidder. Anything but cranberries is acceptable as currency.

I'm thinking cranberry cheesecake would be awesome.
Real cranberry sauce also makes a great condiment with the left over turkey and some brie in a grilled sour dough sandwich

You do not like them. So you say.
Try them and you may, I say.
Dev! If you let me be,
I will try them, you will see.
Say! I like cranberries in can.
Easy carry, without a pan.
Now November's on my mind.
There's one more can I'd like to find.
I do like them, Walmart brand.
A price rollback now ain't that grand.
I like cranberries in the can.
Thank you! Thank you, Devlyn fan.
Definitely the home made stuff from the ocean spray berries in the bag. Throw a bit of grated orange and orange juice in there and keep it just a smidgeon on the tart side.
(the canned stuff is fine though too)
Homemade all the way! We use my great grandmother's recipe. Sorry for tipping the scales there Devlyn! >:-)
What? My #1 fan let me down? I think I may cry.
She's probably using that recipe with the champagne. She'll wake up with a splitting headache and swear off homemade cranberry sauce forever.
Well, I didn't add the pineapple or coconut, just kept to my mother's recipe of a bag of cranberries, orange zest plus the remainder of the sliced orange and one cup of sugar
Into the blender with it first on chop then mince and wallah!!! Yummy Yummy in the tummy
Mmmmm yes ;D
My apologies if this was used.....I think "can" lines are sexy....

It doesn't take much for me these days!!! I had some port and cake with a friend yesterday afternoon and after a glass I was ready for a nap!
When do we get to see Devlyn do the can-can.
