Houston police have released a composite sketch (right) of a suspect wanted in the murder of a transgender victim whose body was found behind a trash bin at an apartment complex early Monday.

Wow, that's really a shame. Seems like we are under siege at times. There has been an increase in such crimes all over the world.

I don't know that it is really an increase so much as it is an increase in reporting...we see the same thing with almost ANY facet of life given the explosion of the interwebz inthe mid-90's. 

Until recently, most people got their news from one of three major networks or from a daily print newspaper...lots of stuff went on that never made the news.  And lots of stuff shows up on media websites that STILL never makes it to print editions...

I think your right about the change in reporting, in fact, as things get rarer, they are more likely, as opposed to less likely, to make the news.
