Put him back into the public light for a few years.  Let's see what happens. ;)

As Jon Stewart said: "...you can't catch 'gay', but 'gay' can sure as Hell catch you."

He has chosen the path of pain. Poor guy. But in the process, he does so much harm to everyone else.. like a grenade.. he destroys himself and takes others with him.. B($*&^!

He's been ostracized and told to leave the state... even after being completely "healed".  What a Christian thing to do.

Hmmmm.... so much of this hits so close to home.

Well. I, unlike others, believe that there is an excellent cure for homosexuality. It's called transition. :) I used to be gay, but the good lord Jesus cured me of my sinful homosexuality.

Yeah, that is until the next time he gets caught. :)

In their defense, consider he was once the one spouting such bigotry in a mega-church until a few months ago.  That, and there's the fact his affair happened outside "the sanctity of marriage."  And the other guy was a drug-dealing prostitute, who supplied Haggard with the speed he was taking.

While that degree of intimidation is overkill, there's a substantial chance this guy is simply a greedy, power-hungry sociopath that by medical standards will be extremely difficult to rehabilitate anyway.  It's hard to blame those people for wanting him far away from them and the ones they love.

Has there been an investigation into the crimes he commited?  Perhaps he should be tried, sent to jail, and then sent into a real rehab program rather than the voodoo mumbo jumbo.

As if he could have had homosexual relations in "the sanctity of marriage" with gay marriage being made illegal by people who are "spouting such bigotry in a mega-church". :P

Melissa, you are on a role lately.  Quite a chuckle you gave me on this.

Knowing the kind of man he obviously is and the kind of people that are around him I'm not surprised that he was "cured."  And so easily too!  See?  It works!! (where the heck is the irony icon?)

I guess they're making the only kind of hay they know how with what grew in their fields.  Except that it's rotten before they even get it in the barn.

Three weeks of "intensive counseling" with four ministers?  They could have just as easily convinced him that he was a platypus.

I can see it now....he's tied to a bed while they throw holy water on him and shout biblical verses at him until he barfs and the gay demon swears and flies away.

After going through some of this deprogramming myself, I can say that anyone will say anything just to get out of it.  It is most unpleasant and demoralizing.

I certainly wish him the best.  But I feel a sense of sorrow for someone who can't align their beliefs to their internal feelings.  I find it most unfortunate that so many people fight their own demons by castigating those of others.
