Just told everyone I want to shave my head

I just told everyone I was going to shave my head some time this summer...and It's not really for passing as much as it is, it's a new leaf I'm turning over and also for my personal comfort.  I really don't care how it looks, but this whole long hair thing, having to fix it every five minutes so it's not in my face...not only annoying but in the back of my mind it's symbolic of me being a "girl".
Now I know i shouldn't do anything I don't want to, and that guys have long hair too.  I 'm not trying to fit typical stereotypes, I'm trying to be comfortable in my own skin. 
Just thought I would let you guys know that I told people I was going to shave it...and I might be coming back for some advice after I hear some of their replies...

I feel the exact way the opposite direction ^.^ I get scolded about and pushed against having long hair from just about everyone who's not familiar with my MtFness ^^ I know short hair is normal (I think even a little increasingly normal?) too, but I just honestly use it as a comfort means.  It seems like it was a forced haircut that really got my feelings riled up and realized... D:

So in other words, go for it!  I hope you enjoy it! ^^

Can definitely relate.

After growing up and having my parents always force me to get my hair cut when it got past their preferred length for a boy while also being called a hippy by kids at school whenever I was able to let it grow out to a decent length, it's nice to be able to finally have it grow out for a change.  Not to mention how people of authority refuse to take perceived men with longer than average seriously.  Not to mention I associate it with passing (even if it might not be all that necessary for me anymore).

I shaved my hair, but I am a mtf type person, I did it to be like my idol BRITNEY SPEARS!

My son shaved his head when he first came out as an ftm....after he did it a couple times ... he said he looked dumb and hasn't done it since.   I think it was a freeing experience for him.  Personally, I could never do it - although nature seems to be making it happen on it's on --- my hair is thinning & I am still pre hormones - YIKES
