Needles size for injecting

Hi guys,

I was recently started on T  I received an prescription for needles but the doctor didn't put what gauge they should be. What gauge needles do you guys use? The pharmacy gave me 25 gauge over the counter needles because they were cheaper than the prescription needles. Go figure.

I draw up with the 18 gauge needles that come on the syringes, and inject with 23's.  I would think it'd be really difficult to draw with 25's since T is usually suspended in a thick oil, even the 23's made it time consuming.  Injecting also takes a bit longer with the smaller needles, but that's a preference thing I think.

I both draw and inject with 22 gauge.

I use 19 G to withdraw from the vial and inject with 23s. I think 25 might be a little small since it's oil-based and therefore thick.

I will be drawing up with 20g and injecting with 23g...but there was a mix up (le sigh...another mix up) at the pharmacy where they gave me 1 inch 23g instead of 1.5 inch which was what I was using ('cept it was 22 g and not 23).

I draw with 18g 1in and inject with 23g 1 1/2in. Some guys use 25g without a problem. It all depends on how much you are injecting. I inject a small amount of T so a 25g would be fine at my dose (according to my doc) if I had not bought a case of 100 23g needles and syringes. It does give me some flexibly if I choose to up my dose in the future.

Mate you need to go in and ask for a LARGER gauge otherwise the pharmacist will go get you some 27's! 
21/22/23's will work a treat

I draw and inject with 25 gauge with no problem. Sure it takes a little longer but the smaller needle has really helped my injection fears and I barely feel it compared to while I was using the 23.

Aussie Jay - You are right I need a larger guage I was thinking the number of the guage when I said smaller needles. My bad.

xAndrewx - Thanks for the information. I think I will still inject with a 23 becuase I don't think I have the patience to inject slow and needles don't scare me. When I injected myself at the clinic for the first time when they were supervising it didn't hurt. I inject in my thigh and as long as I put the needle in fast there is no pain.

I wasn't trying to be a smart ass either hey lol - I'd hate to hear of someone injecting with a 27g! It'd be next to impossible for IMI, maybe ok for sub cut but even then the viscosity of my T at least is insane!!

I draw up with an 18 and inject with 21.

Accidentally, one time I injected with the 18.  LOL It hurt like you wouldn't believe.  Never again will I make that mistake.
