hello all!

i am new to this site, but not new to the community. I have been around quite a few blocks.

my life as a guy was pretty radical, with a major "flight to masculinity". lots of scary situations and substance abuse as well. i regret the wasted years, but at the same time i celebrate them. my entire life was kind of a search for truth, the search for my own personal truth. something i did must have been right, because i have found peace with myself, and with the world at large. not to say that our world does not need improvement. the struggle for justice and tolerance should be part of everyone's quest, and not only that of lgbt people. certainly, tg/ts/gay/lesbian individuals do not have equal opportunities within our society, but we are not alone. we have to fight for everyone if we are to effectively fight for ourselves.

the best advice i can relay to any of you young people is pretty simple. BE GOOD TO YOURSELF. if you don't, who will? don't be afraid to ask for help or advice. a lot of people will be willing to help you. lot's of people have helped me. maybe i'm lucky? or maybe i asked in the right places. you are a valuable person. don't waste your life wishing. do.

i am post-op, but i still have problems. LOL when you stop having problems, you have stopped breathing! so keep having problems! life is a challenge, but you can live up to it. believe in yourself.

i live in DC. i intend to become active in lobbying for TG/TS rights with our legislators. if i can help anyone, please feel free to ask. take good care...

Welcome, Jeri. Nice to see post-ops popping in to lend a hand to the more recently transitioned.

Hello Jeri, welcome, welcome, welcome.

Toooooooooooooooo Suuuuuuuuuuuuuusaaaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnn's

I hope that you find us to your liking.  The members here are a great bunch and come from all over the world, although there is significant representation from the U.S.  So I guess you could say that we are multi-cultural and as diverse as they come.

It's good to have more post ops to share their experience with the others, and if you haven't already done so please be sure to read the rules.

Again, welcome Jeri it's nice to meet you.

Welcome!
You got that right about inequality and fighting for rights. Maybe you have some things you can add to the activism forum on this once you have settled in here.
Susan's is a great place, hope you like it.

That is some great advice! I can't tell you how many times I have sat around and thought 'what the heck did I do with myself?!' I was so worried about what other people thought only to realize half a lifetime later that it doesn't matter what they thought. I don't even KNOW those people anymore!! ::)

Live your life for you and be good to yourself.

It's great to see those who have taken that 'last' major step come back and help others. I think it is also a pleasant but important reminder that this journey doesn't end at post-op.

I'm still coming out, but I wished I had started long before I did. I'm glad I finally accepted it. I understand myself much better now.
