I am in shock right now after finding out that Anna Nicole Smith has passed away.  I liked the girl, okay?  I know that some people thought that she was just a gold digger bimbo, but the fact that she fought for her rights when her late husband's family wanted to take possession of her money made me see her in a different way.  Also the fact that she went from fat to fab in a short period of time made me like her even more.  Geez I am saddened!   :(  Apparently she collapsed in a hotel room.....?  OD'ed?  heart attack? who knows...

article

I did not post this under the news forum since it was not TG related.

Shocking! It really breaks the dream that you can go from working at a Southern chicken shack to being a autoerotic object for millions of pimply teenage boys. (And girls, and pre-transition transsexual girls)

I liked her too - though she wasn't exactly a crusader against the patriarchy. And I agree that she had a right to that money.

Ps- Her boobs were absurd.
PPS- What seems more likely. A. She used her billions for lipo? or B. Trimspa, baby?

I too really liked her.  If you take the time to learn about her life you can't help but respect how she started with nothing and molded an amazing career out of it.

So sad.....and a poor infant girl is now left without her brother or mother and all the controversy that will no doubt haunt the rest of her life.

Yes, I agree this is sad..... especially for her young baby girl.

Overtones of Marilyn Monroe in her life and death.

Quite.  Especially the fact that I can't see why anyone cares so much about either of them.

Tell me about it.  I have the blues..today... for some reason...geez!  I think there are just way too many things going on in the world and in my life.  The sad part is that her final autopsy results are not even available, and some family members have already started to fight for her money.  Wow!  I hope that when I die, my family won't fight for the pennies I have, and even if they do, I will leave everything to my cats.. >:D

I don't see why people obsess over shallow celebrities as much as they do.

I know nothing about Smith's life that was to be admired -- all I know of her is a fake body, a faker image, and that she was famous for being famous and marrying a multimillionaire.

Of course, neither am I happy to hear of her death.

That is all I will say on this topic.  Feel free to disagree.

Hello,

I care about Anna Nicole because she had the guts to use the system to get what she wanted/earned/or deserved. She did put on a big public show of her breakdown years. But she kept herself working and she did it her way.
I always felt bad that the comedians were making jokes based on her. To me, she was a woman who took what little she had, added some guts, and made herself a marketable product.

I care about her baby because I would like the kid to wind up with the best parent possible and maybe grow up in a more conventional environment.

These are the same feelings I have for Courtney Love, who is often sneered upon and made to look like an incompetent joke. When in fact, she suffers from a mental illness and is struggling in her offbeat way for her validity.

I feel for the ones who burn brightly even when their fires are off center or temporarily snuffed out.

Love,
rebecca

i [don't] disagree  ;); weird in life and weirder in death...that woman [never looked sober] and [in control of her faculties]...
cause of death [in my book] is [death by being a celebrity]
too much front page coverage for a such a simple woman.

I don't disagree either, however when I thing about the death of her son, and her death I really feel for her baby she has no one. Now I hear she may have gotten pregnant using her dead husbands sperm !

Dead husband's sperm?   Hmmmmmm. Maybe they will allow me to borrow Anna's dead womb?

I would like to have a baby too.

[The above was just bad humor. It didn't even make me giggle, however, it is meant to lead to this thing that I read]

I read that Doctors are working on Womb Transplants. They may have transplanted one from a dead woman into a living one. Maybe this should be a poll. Begorrah? or Yikes!

   Back to the topic.
I know celebrities appear to be disposable because of the way they live their overprivilaged lives and the way that the media portrays them, but I think of some of them as broken people who are probably close to living as they would if they were unknowns, but somehow, they gained notoriety and wealth.
I always sympathize with whoever the late night jerks make fun of.

From my steel cloud to your woven Earth,

Becca
