Re: Joyce

I may be unique, but I thought I'd ask.  I've never had a strong body odor, even as a male.  If I wore a Tee shirt and got sweaty at all, I wouldn't stink, but I certainly wouldn't want to wear that tee shirt again.  It was easy to tell whether I'd worn an article of clothing or not by smelling it, but it never really was stinky.  After a while on hormones, I lost that odor.  I can get pretty hot in that tee shirt now and the next day, there's really no odor at all.

Now, when I got ready to go to the hospital for my GCS, I washed up all nice, but I didn't put on any under-arm deodorant.  I figured I'd show up as natural as possible, just in case that might make a difference.  Well, after 5 days in the hospital, I had no body odor at all.  None.  My underarms were like a baby.  I got discharged and went to the bed and breakfast and spend another 3 days in bed before my first Dr. appt.  I was unable to shower or bathe for 9 days and I still had no odor.  Amazing.  So, I quit wearing any deodorant at all and had no body odor.   Now that the weather is in the 90's, I might get a little bitty bit, so I do put on a little bit.

Next is urine odor.  As a male, I had a strong male urine odor and it went away after a while on hormones.  It almost got to have very little odor after I was on for a year or so.

Post-op, I have a very strong female odor to my urine now.  The bathroom smells when I'm done.  I swear, I could go to the forest and mark trees or something.   :D

      Anyone else have similar experiences?

Ok I am not post-op GRS, but post-op Craniotomy and 3 days after Crainioplasty (Google if in doubt). This stint required me to be off E for about 7 day, preceded by a 6 week ramp-down scheme in prep. for my then planned GRS
Before all of that my experience with body odour was just as you describe it. Was really happy to be virtually sans odour.
Guess what? After my brain-op stint I had some jolly strong body odour and since being back on E again it got less, but still has not gone back to where things were, practically odourless.

Whether it be female odour in my case I doubt, yet having smelled (clean appearing females doctor, etc.) some women which had a rather strong odour.
Also E makes our nose a LOT more sensitive compared when being on T.
So yes, I guess it all has to do with hormone balance and levels.

It is said that if hormones are not balanced (E/P) women can acquire a pretty strong smell AND NOT ALL THAT PLEASANT for sure.
Lastly there are pheromones which we do not really smell but seem to pick up on another sensory level.
I could swear to be able telling who of the nurses was ovulating when I was in hospital. I was off E but still.

Thanks, Kristyn.  It's good to know it's not anything serious....

I do drink a lot of water and urinate many times during the day.  We're still getting my estrogen levels dialed in and as of the last blood tests a few weeks ago, the E level was very high.

No one else has chimed in, so I'll wait and see.

For the most part, after SRS, I noticed my aroma changed considerably and diminished drastically. Even if perspiring, my odour was very subtle - never strong. Of course there is the "fishy smell" but that was never strong as long as hygiene is reasonable (unless one had one's nose too close LOL!) When I was much younger, I never could figure out how guys knew when I was .... shall we say "interested" - then I head about pheromones .... okay so that works to LOL!

One thing that not many people are aware of is that all our body odors are greatly influenced by everything we take in including food, and environmental elements.  How's your diet?  An excess in potassium and zinc can cause urine to smell strong.  So if you are eating a fairly healthy diet, chances are you will have a stronger aroma.  Also, you may just be more sensitive to smells because of the estrogen.
