Here's some more facts, and these are even true ones. At it's deepest point, Tahoe is 1, 645 feet deep (501m). Below 600 to 700 ft the temperature of the water remains a constant 39F (4.0C). What that means is it's too cold for the bodies to decompose fast enough to build up all gas needed to bloat and thus float back up, as bodies in water tend to do. By the time that that process gets up enough steam the body is so deep that the water pressure prevents it from happening, so it never floats. The mob loved this aspect of the lake.
