Did anyone suppoort you and encourage you to start transitioning?

Grandparents often seem more accepting IME.

As for the rest?? Quite some would say: "What took you so long?!" and I go... oh really?

Encouragement - to coming out? If you even speak about "friends" they seldom speak up. Being TS/G is not something they know much about - mostly. IME they think you're a queen in the closet and who wants to drag anyone from any closet?

As for support? Well, here also you'll find out who your friends are. It's my experience lots will fall by the wayside. During transition they find you are not quite anymore who the actually befriended – and for what ever reason, often your interests also will change, including them too.

My paternal aunt seemed alittle bit this way, I haven't seen her recently but when I thought about it and my sister said something it kinda made sense.

She had three boys of her own and desperately wanted a girl, begin that way inclined my sister pointed out how she always showed her preference when she was a kid. and she seemed pretty excited and pleased by the idea of me begin a female.

She seems to abide to the idea of "girls are better". Thus was supportive. although I rarely see that side of the family.

A good TS friend was supportive but no one else actually noticed as I was always quite feminine anyway, so there was no coming out situation.

I definitely had support throughout every step of my transition, including the start. But no one really pushed me to start transitioning. Some people did give me encouraging words when I would become depressed or sad.

im really shocked , my circle of friends so far ( havent told EVERY one ) has been very supportive and even offered advice even the 2 i was afriad would get up in my face about it ,
  being very old fashioned about somethings , her comment was " i dont tolerate bigotry in my house , and who ever says anything , well ive got my man beater ( a baseball bat ) and they can argue with that  so i guess im getting off lucky. so im glad so far i havent had to deal with any negitivity i can start pretty much relaxed , and do things at my own pace

I am very lucky here I have told my mom, sis, and two best friends my family was ok with my transtion but my friends relly encurage me to do what it takes to be happy. My biggest supporter is my wife (by the way im mtf not as my profile says miss gendered even here) she says she will love my no matter what. I belive her we have been trough alot already in are 7yrs together.   love Carlie xoxoxo
