Actually i agree with your belief that children have a difficult time with authority figures but the point, probably poorly made, is that the young kids that step forward have a clear sex orientation issue or quite simply, assuming MTF only, they are attracted to boys. It is part of what drives kids like I was to push limits. We were not attracted to gay men so what do you do? It is why there are so few kids like Kim Petras or why the Benjamin Type VI are kind of rare.
When I met Harry there was no known narrative and there was no establishment one had to deal with. It was basically Dr. Harry Benjamin or die and Harry never, I will repeat this again, absolutely NEVER cared whether you were attracted to boys or girls or men or women. Harry thought the percentages should map reasonably closely to the societal norms for lesbian and gay for all types of transsexuals. When that mapping percentage became skewed in the late 70's he was worried.
There were fools that required one to be headed towards heterosexual girl/woman and that was more often than not the surgeons who faced considerable threat from archaic laws that considered harming the male genitalia mayhem or worse. The simple fact we were intensely attracted to straight boys was the driving force why many of us pushed boundaries that were not a lot of fun to push and many of us paid high prices. Quite simply if one was attracted to girls and transsexual there was a simple way around the issue because they could date girls. That was not possible for what Benjamin defined as Type VI.
Now you and everyone else can deny this but the facts are irrefutable from both Harry's time and today. The transsexual kids that push the issue are attracted to boys if MTF and girls if FTM. Can that change later in life? Absolutely but the percentages map exactly with the norms of society withing statistical norms.
I realize few will understand this but imagine being a 13 year old MTF transsexual and wanting what every other girl wants including boys. Imagine the nightmare of watching a boy you are attracted to with girls when in your soul you are a girl. Natal girls do things to attract heterosexual boys and MTF transsexual kids do the same. I was lucky physically so when boys thought I was a girl, many did, I flirted with them which was stupid and I got beat up a lot but a smile from a boy was worth it. Today these kids can often transition in school and have the privilege of living the teenage girl experiences necessary in order to grow into normal female adults. For the kids we have helped financially, including two now, we recommend they transition early and assimilate into teenage life as girls but they need to be out for safety.
Even in my time of the late 50's once kids knew I wanted to be a girl things changed for the better. There are always jerks but kids are surprisingly accepting once they understand. The key or maybe the curse was always being intensely attracted to straight boys along with being intensely transsexual and whether you or others want to admit it there are degrees of intensity among different types of transsexuals. In your politically correct world maybe there is not but in reality there are serious differences in intensity and it is intensity that determines when and how the nightmare of being born transsexual is dealt with. It does not make us better nor does it make us worse, just different.
Intensity is why people transition differently and some last longer and transition later. I actually believe kids like I was have it easier because our path is defined for us in many cases while others need to follow a winding road to reach peace and for some maybe that means non-surgical peace even if it is rare.
The question I would ask you is simple. Why do you think it is not normal for young transsexuals to be attracted to straight boys in very high percentages? Are not normal teenage girls attracted to straight boys? Are you claiming these kids were pressured or afraid to speak up or the percentage of lesbians should be much higher or in this case actually exist?
