Julie Marie

Julie just started a new job and they are working her up to 14 hours a day, six days a week.  We only have one car.  So when she's gone, I'm stuck home.  I think it's making me loony.  I don't even have screaming kids to drive me nuts either.  My brain is turning to mush.  Maybe I can get a paper route.  I have a bike.

Ah ...  Might I suggest Oprah, Ellen. Days of Our Lives, All My Children or General Hospital.  They survive on housewives watching.

Thank you, honey for your sacrifice, too. We don't know how long this will last, and we'll try and make the best of it for now.

Folks, if you don't know it by now, Julie is wonderful and very supportive in every way. BTW, she's no ordinary "housewife". She's been working very hard for weeks refurbishing and repairing our hot tub, which has been out of commission. Incidentally, I'm a full time project and job for her!

As soon as Juliekins leaves you sit down make a coffee watch the telly etc. Just before she returns, run around like a mad woman and tell her how busy you have been.
BTW don't let Juliekins read this.

Seriously I've been stuck at home with a bad cold for most of the week. Since I work with oncology patients I cannot go to work with a cold. I'm bored out of my tree.

Well, if anyone notices evidence of more stupidity than normal from my posts, if you see signs of out of normal immaturity or really mindless and dopey posts, please write Juliekins and let her know I have most likely lost my mind and should be placed in the Home for Babbling Broads.  There I will be able to chatter on endlessly with other mush brains or just sit in a chair all day with my hair in curlers, wearing fuzzy slippers, eating Bon-Bons, while watching the soaps and screaming at the louse on TV who just cheated on his wife.

Julie got home around 9PM last night.  She was up at 5AM getting ready for work.  She has to be there in an hour.

I wonder what soaps are on today...

I know the feeling, Julie. My wife kicks me out of the house if i'm home two days in a row. I have done all the house work at times. Doesn't bother me but wife still doesn't like me home all day in consecutive days.

where is the little barfing emoticon when I could really use it...

I spent the first day of a vacation yesterday (well, the daytime hours at least) just acclimating on the time change and got stuck watching daytime TV.  It was absolute crap.  And I even had access to satellite...and even with eighty bazillion channels, there was just CRAP.

I got so bored, I even called the office to check on a few cases and then spent time working on a client file remotely...

I would go crazy doing that. I work 7:30-5:30 monday through friday then drive home and work in my shop until 10 or so, get a shower and hopefully get 6+ hours of sleep. Friday night, I drive 300 miles to get home which is about 11:30 pm. I do chores and honey do's on saturday and sunday and also try to do more stuff in my shop at home.

I leave about 4-5pm on sunday afternoon and drive 300 miles again and get back to my other place at about 10pm. Then I start the process over again the next morning. I couldn't sit around and do nothing but I sure could use a vacation. I'd probably just work so hard on vacation that I'd have to go back to work to rest....

I have been a housewife for the last 7 years.
I love it. When I was a child and I was asked what I wanted to be when I grew up I was only honest the first two times I was asked. I wanted to be a house 'husband'. I grew up in a very progressive environment in some ways. I figured if girls could be doctors and lawyers then it must be able to work both ways and boys could be househusbands.
Boy was I ever wrong on that. I got so ridiculed the times I did be honest I never brought it up again.
Now I am living the dream baby.

How to fill your day?
Well for me allot of my time is spent on the internet. Probably too much time.
The rest of my time is filled with many things, like, taking care of my animals, 2 dogs 2 cats 24 chickens. Also I tend a garden in my yard. Takes up a number of hours a week. Weeding and cultivating fertilizing ect ect...
Keeping the house relativly clean and making the meals for Sevan and I take up plenty of time.
Now I am traped out in the forest so I do have some issues that wouldn't be an issue if I lived in a city. Like simple socialization...
You could join any number of groups and societies that are the social heartbeat of your town.

Personaly I wouldn't have anyother job.
The pay is for sh**, the hours are never ending, you can never get away from your job but it affords so much me time. I can sit and ponder the universe in peace for the most part. My time is my own. And if I choose to take a day off....what? Is the boss gonna fire me. LOL

I hate housework.  I spend my days working on projects around here.  I've got two woodworking projects, the hot tub renovation, replacing outside trim work, doing some exterior staining, landscaping and other stuff.  I also have an order for a wooden, oriental design chandelier.  I just have to get with the customer and iron out the final details.

But even with all I have to do around here, not having human contact can can make one batty.  There have been a few occasions I turned on the tube just to remind myself what other humans look like, and I NEVER watch TV during the day.  It's only for when you are so dead tired you can't do anything else and you have nothing good to read.

It stopped raining and it's a chilly 750 outside.  I think I'll work on the tub.

I think I know what a housewife feels like as well Julie.
But, being a straight cisgender that was raised in a lifestyle where the man supported his wife the change of events from being disabled isn't that great for me.
Dishes, laundry, dusting and vacuuming wasn't exactly what I was brought up thinking macho guys should do.
On the lighter side I do enjoy making sure that when my wife gets home from work she doesn't have to do anything but relax and enjoy her evening.
Getting to rather enjoy Without A Trace and Criminal Minds though. I wonder if those are the househusband's soaps for today or if I am the only one watching them.

Providing Sevan a hot meal and comforts when ze comes home from a long day at work is the best! (can't wait for Sevan to go back to work in the fall)

QuoteJack Butler: My brain is like oatmeal. I yelled at Kenny today for coloring outside the lines! Megan and I are starting to watch the same TV shows, and I'm liking them! I'm losing it.
Caroline: Honey, I know what you're talking about. I've been there myself, alright?

Yeah, I get a little upset when they color outside the lines.  I mean, c'mon!  You're outside the lines!

I retired temporarily a couple of months ago, prior to returning to study next year.
If it hadn't been for everything involved with getting my house ready for sale, and the trips interstate to find a new place I would have been gaga by now!  I have already enquired about  short study courses to fill in the time before uni starts in February so my brain doesn't rust.
Is that an option that would get some social contact and brain exercise?
Good luck, Karen.

The nearest school is many miles away, too far (and too dangerous) for biking.  Bike paths are few and far between here.  Julie left for work an hour ago.  She probably won't be home til maybe 6 or 7.

I realized just how bad this no car situation was when I was going to schedule my annual physical.  I have no way of getting there!  My doctor's office is open six days a week but Julie works those same six days.  I've been wanting to get my hair done for a month but the bike ride would be all roads with little room to move out of the way of oncoming vehicles.  This is nuts!

I am also without a vehicle.
But I don't have a drivers license.
Never have had one.
