LinkCorrective Services Minister Judy Spence presented a submission to Cabinet yesterday following the decision to change the Corrective Services Act to avoid future similar legal challenges.
She said other Queensland prisoners had launched claims in the commission over the right for a transsexual to visit her partner in another prison. Another transsexual wanted to be provided with "expensive hair products".
"I don't think that when we introduced anti-discrimination legislation that we ever envisaged that prisoners would use it in this fashion," she said.
