Funerals are NEVER for the benefit of the Deceased!!  This pastor was preaching to the people who paid him to come and do just that, preach for the benefit of the living!  He and the immediate family of Lashai had no idea of what she had done and become to others as shown by the fact that they moved the service to a much larger church in a different city.  This was a man and family from a marginalized neighborhood where "big city" was threatening on its own behalf.  He does not represent U.S. Christianity from even the city he was in for the funeral.  From the field of clergy education on any topic, he was pretty sparse in class credit.   Lashai will be another name on the list for the Transgender Day Of Remembrance this year where she will receive her dignity from her true brothers and sisters.

Wow, I never thought about it like that.   :-\  I find this to be true, in spite of how sad I feel about this being true.   :'(

A funeral -should- be a time to show your respect for the Deceased. Or else don't come.
