Sharky - google perovic in serbia, there are also surgeons in Germany and other parts of the UK, even some good results in the US and Canada.. If you want the goods join yahoo groups - ftmmetoidioplasty, ftmphalloplastyinfo, ftmsurgeryinfo, The deciding line, mycenturionsurgery - all a wealth of knowledge, some great discussions on decisions, results and function and some awesome pics of results you wouldn't blink at mate...
Dr. Perovic passed away last year. Two of his students are performing metoidioplasty and phalloplasty: Dr. Rados Djinovic and Dr. Miroslav Djordjevic. I have not heard many stories or seen many result pics from guys who have gone to Dr. Rados for surgery. There are a number of stories and photos of guys who have had meta with Dr. Miro and his team (myself included, surgery journal is here:
https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/topic,102885.0.html). All the resources that Aussie Jay mentioned are good ones, for both discussion and pics.
My reasons for having metoidioplasty are thus: I could no longer stand having the 3rd hole (it just messed with me psychologically, though kudos to the guys who have found a way to enjoy or make peace with it) and I didn't like the fact that my penis was held down by ligaments and obscured by excess skin. I want to pee standing up without an STP (I'm still healing with a suprapubic catheter and can't use my urethra yet, but here's hoping all goes well). I also really wanted balls. I am OK with a small penis; I highly doubt I'll be capable of penetration, but I am OK with that compromise. There are strap-on harnesses made for male anatomy (they have a pouch and are higher up so they won't 'squish' things), that are intended for men who want to wield a bigger size.
I've seen some nice phallos, aesthetic-wise, but I personally would be bothered by the fact that the penis skin was not originally genital skin; I want my body to be as scar-free as possible. I also simply don't have the money or the time for multiple procedures.
About the link that Jay posted (metoidioplasty.com): Result 6 looks fantastic, but keep in mind that length is dependent on how much downstairs growth you have on T. The surgeon's skill doesn't have much to do with how long you end up--he will do his best with what he has to work with. Also, with meta, if you carry excess weight or have a fat mons, some (or all) of your length can be hidden in the fat (notice how some of those guys are pushing back on the skin around their penis?). Liposuction and a mons resection can be done as revisions once the initial surgery has healed, but it is probably best to be as close to ideal body weight as possible.
Oh, and Jay: gratz on things working out with your BF
