Jeans issue

I hugely prefer my guy jeans to the ones I had previously, but there's a problem with them. Since I'm pre-T, I still have a distinctly womanly body (*shudder*) so while my jeans fit around my waist, they sort of balloon out around the thighs. I'm ridiculously self-conscious about my weight anyway (I'm about fifteen pounds over my optimal weight, which I'm trying to fix) and I feel as though they're A) making me look fat as all hell and B) making it super obvious that I'm a "girl" in a guy's jeans. Until I get in better shape (IE lose the love handles, slim my thighs down) I can't get slimmer jeans to help solve this issue. So what do I do? I really don't want to go back to wearing my old jeans but I really don't like this 'balloon' effect.

Balloon effect? Pix?

Are you wearing something with pleats? I know that makes a balloon sort of effect. You could try a different cut but I can't say for sure until I see what the problem is.

I guess I didn't explain it too well (unfortunately I don't have a camera, so I'll just have to explain better).

Basically, there's a notable amount of excess denim around my thighs and bum (I have a surprisingly flat bum for being AFAB for some reason) and it makes my thighs look a bit like a mostly-deflated balloon. It's not exactly flattering.

Would guys skinny jeans (that term shouldn't apply to waist sizes above 30, they're like sticks O.O) help here at all? [As for my current cut, I've got Route 66 straight fit.]

Hmm...not sure. Sorry...I'm a big guy with large butt and thighs. Where do you have the jeans sit? Having them low (right above butt crack) might be able to help. Boot cuts also tend to be a bit snugger in the thigh.

That's exactly where mine sit =/ My brother's got a pair one inch down from my actual size (I'm in between, so I've got an inch above because most brands don't have the odd sizes) and I grabbed them and tried them on. They fit my thighs well, but they're a little too snug around my hips so I'm probably just gonna have to wait until I drop a few pounds and get a similar pair (or just permanently borrow those 0= ).

Definitely not going back to my old jeans. They feel freaking WEIRD after so long 0.0

I know exactly what you mean by balloon effect. in order to get pants that fit your waist, they're like 3 sizes too big for the rest of your legs. the only solution is to lose weight especially if your weight sits at your hips aka not a male distribution at all. I solve the hip issue by wearing skinny jeans which sounds counterintuitive but works for me because my hips are pretty small I guess. not something I'd suggest if you're overweight though...

Try a boot cut (slim boot cut, probably). They tend to be cut relatively relaxed in the hip/waist, slim in the thigh, and the slight flare helps balance your hips. That worked well for me until T started to slim my hips to the point that straight cuts became flattering.

If you don't do this already, try putting things in the front pockets (phone, wallet etc) to pull the excess fabric forward.

I wore boot cut girls jeans for that reason, I really wasn't aware that guys jeans had boot cut style as well ^_^ I'll have to try that until I manage to slim down =P

I go for straight leg, regular or slim cut.  I think boot leg makes you look more curvy since the jeans are cut to have curves.

A lot of short fat guys have thick thighs.

Example: Jack Black

I have this issue. I tried on a pair of straight leg jeans today and they looked great standing up, but when I sat down my thigh was oozing out of my leg. Gross. I'm a size 38 and I'm sick of dressing like it's 1998. Although, I think different brands fit differently. The pair I tried on was Calvin Klein. Maybe those just don't fit me well?  ???

Yeah, it really depends on your build. I think the OP was saying he has thin thighs, though, too small for the jeans that fit him in the waist, which is what makes me think boot cut.

In general, bigger guys seem to do better in straight leg, but relatively slender guys - especially those whose major trouble point is the hips - can do better in boot cut or even skinny. If you get the right boot cut or skinny jean, it can actually create the illusion that you don't have curves, because the fabric actually follows the line of your body instead of billowing out in places where a cis guy with your waist size would have body mass to fill it.

Hey, I've got the same issues, I call it "bag ass" though lol.
Definitely try the slimmer boot-cut if you cant find them. They help.

I just tried on guys skinnies earlier today and had a similar problem. The jeans were too long (easily fixed) fit perfectly in the waist and hips (I have no hips whatsoever) but also ballooned out in the thighs. I'm very slim, the pants said 28 and they were almost too big. Should I shop in a boys section?
