Kim Pearson's journey started when her child was "very much at the end of his rope," she says, when he came out and said, 'here's the deal, I'm transgender, I'm actually a guy,'" She did an instant replay.
"How did we miss that?" Had she known what she was looking at she would have known, she says, it would have been obvious. "But when you don't know it's a possibility, why would you even go there?"

This is what started Kim Pearson's from parent of an unhappy child, a child who had been on suicide watch, to the parent of a happy son. She is the "fairy Godmother" of transchildren around the nation, children who, as young as seven, send her thank you notes.
