So I've been looking around here for a binder. However, as I'm most likely going to be asking a friend to receive this at her house, I want to get the right binder that will last long enough - at least a year - so I don't have to bother her again. So, any dudes care to help me?

I'm not sure what size I should take - I'm very light (5'11", 119lbs) and small-chested, but I'm torn over a small or x-small. My measurements are 31 under the moob and 33 over the fullest part, the average coming out to be 32. Would the x-small give me better binding, given my size? I plan on buffing out a little bit, but mostly my arms.

Also, I'm torn between the FTM binder 988, 997 - I don't really know the difference, or the shorter 983; but would that one ride up and cause more problems than it's worth?

i use the under works tri top, at first its really a bit constricting. you get used to it.

If you're big chested, don't get the 988. It sucks.

Seems you're about the same size as me, only taller — I can't speak for the models you've chosen but I got the tri-top (983) in a small. It gets very, very uncomfortable very quickly (especially after eating) so I can only imagine that a long binder would make that even worse. Mine gets me perfectly flat with no issues whatsoever so I'd honestly say that the small should be fine for you. Personally I'm really iffy about how tight things are on me so I always go up a size when possible... depends on how much you value your ribcage :P But seriously, the small is REALLY small.

Again, I'm only speaking from knowledge of the tri-top (which is excellent in terms of binding ability) so I don't know how different either of the two you're looking at would be in that regard. But yeah. Just my (nonsensical) two cents :]
