Curious about pregnancy in transmen

So I'm pretty sure that someone's asked this question before, but I'm curious. I know that transmen can get pregnant, just look at Thomas Beatie, who's had two children now. Anyway, I'm curious as to how transguys like me can have children. it kinda freaks me out honestly. Now, I happen to be on hormones, and when I started, my doctor told me that my periods would stop because the testosterone essentially destroys the ovaries. If this is true, then how in the world is it possible for a transguy to give birth? Is it simply because we don't really need the ovaries to give birth? Because they create the estrogen and hold the eggs and don't create new eggs? Or is it for some other reason? I can't help but be curious.

...Also...Any good recommendations for birth control, guys?

Getting a little freaked about this, even if I don't plan on spreading my legs anytime soon, couldn't hurt to be prepared, right?

I didn't mean destroy over night...I know that it doesn't do that,
But the prolonged use of them over years, that's what I meant.
I didn't mean to sound so drastic.

Thank you for your thoughts though, Epi.

Beattie had three kids.

I think some guys have IVF where the sperm and egg are combined in a test tube and are replanted. There isn't that much information out there about pregnancy involving trans men but I'd wager it can take a very long time to lose fertility, and gaining it back might be possible after a short time off hormones.

The thing is we don't know. There's not enough information out there, hardly any studies, etc.

Beatie stopped taking T before his first pregnancy. His wife had a hysterectomy because of some disease, and he hadn't, so he was the only one who could carry the child. They did not intend to be the "pregnant man couple" on Tv and the like, someone gossipped about it and media got hold of it. He said himself that this wasn't how they had planned, but he was amazingly grateful for the wonderful children that he had. They were all healthy. I know this because I saw him talking on Pride.
...that fey-looking freak kid with too many books and too much bodily fat
