LONDON - Britain could introduce a third gender category to British passports allowing citizens of indeterminate sex to opt out of standard male and female identification, a Home Office official said on Monday.

Under the proposals, those of indeterminate sex may be able to use an "X" to denote their gender on passports, rather than "M" or "F."

Opinion I think its an amazing Idea though , some people might want to be identified as M or F and might feel descriminated with these X thing.. I don't I think it makes it simple and anyways I don't go show my passport to my friends family or random people.. haha :)

It's a great step forward, and I would love to know how US conservatives comprehend the fact that our British Conservative Party seems far more like a liberal party than conservative (although they do have quite reactionary views on some issues, and certain members are known to be quite outspoken bigots).
I have no concrete idea of my gender identity, but I believe I am an Androgyne.

to me, there is no earthly sense to put gender: X

That, in my opinion is just as bad as the previous options.

But i can appreciate their willingness to change

Quite fancy one of those passports but can imagine major hassles in many places. On second thoughts make that most places, even here in Europe, and even with our own always delightfully polite (not) UK Border Agency.
