I have voluntered to help out at an event organised by my local branch of http://www.fawcettsociety.org.uk/ where there will be workshops on:

Women as Carers
Women in Public Life
Women in Education
Women in Pleasure
Woman and Safety
Women and Work
Women and Social Benefit

I am looking forward to the opportunity to spend a day with women discussing women's issues.

So what will you be doing to celebrate International Women's Day ?

I've been asked to lead the workshop on "Women in Education"

So I'm going to have 6 groups of 10 women with 15 minutes each group to discuss "Women in Education" and identify 3 key issues for each group. Yikees ...........

So it's "Dont tell me your names (no time for introductions !!!) just tell me what you think are the key issues and why !!!!"

Should be fun ......  :icon_nervious:

Wow, that was an experience I will remember for a very long time  ;D

I got to the venue by 9.30 am, picked up a name badge, grabbed a coffee, picked a table and started chatting with the women at the table. Everyone was polite and friendly.

10.30 to 12.30 I hosted the "Women in Education" workshop, which meant that I meet every women at the event !!! Young and old, from every walk of life, degree educated, single mum teenagers, loud and quiet, all sorts  ;D

The key issues identified by the workshop were:
* Childcare provision for women in Education
* Family friendly education hours
* Course fees were seen as a barrier to women continuing in education

By lunch time I needed a quiet time to myself to recover my voice and ended up chatting with a delegation from the Liverpool Refugee Centre, which I found really interesting.

After lunch an introduction to Tai Chi  ;D and I was given an Easter egg by the organisers for helping out  ;D

As the event finished in time for the woment to go and collect their children from school I had time to meet up with a local TS friend of mine for a chat. She asked if I had been paid for hosting the workshop !!!! No, I would happily have paid to host the workshop just for the experience.

A wonderful day and I look forward to meeting up again with the women I met yesterday  ;D
