My psych doc sent me my second letter today that he will send on to Dr. Bowers. I will send it and a mess of other info on to my insurance case manager. Assuming it is all approved, I should now be all set to go for my February surgery date. Looks like the end of my transition is in sight now and my new life is about to begin.

Just about at the four month mark to my date now and this Thursday will be a year since I started HRT.
I can't believe it. I keep thinking that at any moment someone will wake me and it will all have been a dream.
and i know that i'm never alone
and i know that my heart is my home

Congratulations Mel!!!

I thought I had my transition fast tracked.  From the first hormone injection to waking up after SRS was less than 2 years!

Though this is a journey and not a race, you do seem to be on the fast track!

Congratulations!  I think I'm going to need to schedule an appointment with another psychiatrist to get my second letter, now that I finally have a date.

Awesome news!

Your insurance covers SRS? Is that private or work related?

Yeah, it has been very fast. From first hormone intake to waking up after SRS will be 16 months just about bang on the nose. October 6, 2010 to February 7, 2012. I still remember coming here in the very early boy days and complaining that I needed to get on HRT ASAP and that it was taking forever. LOL.

Anyway, it has been a pretty good transition if I do say so myself

From this in August 2010:

To this in September 2011:

I have enjoyed every minute of it and fully realize what a charmed transition it has been. Despite the the things I lost, the hardship and heartache (and there has been a lot of the latter), I am finally me. I'm a woman now and it feels great. Thank you to all of you that helped me through it all.

I do need a new profile pic now though. My hair is actually naturally wavy curls and this week I decided to stop fighting it. Reaction to it has been overwhelmingly positive. I should have known that what comes naturally is best. Fighting myself never works. You would think I would have learned that by now!  ;D

If you know neither yourself nor your enemy, you will always endanger yourself.

In that case. Where do you work and are they hiring? :D

Disney. Don't know if they are hiring. They tend to hire you part-time and then you transfer to full time to get the insurance. That's what I did. Wells Fargo also has insurance that pays for the surgery. I got the list of companies from the HRC website.
