Just this morning, I got a call from my local Old Navy store *Just so we're on the same page* and we set up a job interview for Monday at 9:15. I'm really excited, but I'm also pretty scared already. When he asked, "Is this ((Insert girly name)) ?" I said, "Yes, this is her," From sheer force of habit, only to choke on my tongue directly after. Looking back, I wish that I would have called myself a 'him,' because on the stupid internet application, where it asks you your gender, I put 'I prefer not to answer,' This could have given me a good way to explain the trans issue to him during the interview.
So my concern is this, when I go into the interview, what do you guys think is a good way to bring up the issue about being trans? I don't just want to be like, "Oh, by the way, I'm getting a sex change, I hope that doesn't bother you," I just don't know what would be a professional and classy way to bring something like that up that doesn't ruin the chances of me getting this job.
Have any of you had similar experiences?
And how'd you bring it up to your potential employers, and did you get the job in the end?
