Okay, so we kind of started talking about jewelery, make-up, girly things, and pain on another thread so I started this one up.

I went to an Arbonne Party for the first time at my friends' house last night. FYI: Arbonne is in skincare/cosmetics and there all about not having animal byproducts in their stuff. I had a really good time. We did facials, foot soaks, and got our make-up done. The skincare products I was very impressed with. My skin still feels incredible this morning and I'm so happy because I'd been bemoaning the effects of the winter weather on my skin for about a month now and my skin looks like spring (weeee!)  I can be ridiculously girly(or vain, or both), I apologize if anybody is vomiting right now.

The only problem I had...the lip plumper. Okay, it's supposed to puff up your lip to increase the volume. We all tried it. But I was the lucky, lucky, girl who had skin sensitive enough to have a reaction to it! Everybody's lips puffed up a little bit, but mine looked like I had collagen injections. This actually would've been okay with me, except that it BURNED! It felt like pins and needles in my lips!  I freaked out and wiped it all off. My lips returned to normal in a few minutes, but I was so close to crying that I was really embarrassed. I thought I was having an allergic reaction, but no hives, so I guess it's just a case of sensitive skin. It still really scared me. I'll never use a plumper again!

Ha. Ha. Ha. Not quite, but I was getting nervous! I actually couldn't keep my lips together because they had become so stiff and swollen. It was awful!

Aww, I'm sorry it hurt and scared you.  I tried some lip plumper stuff a while back and it didn't do anything although I've noticed tabasco can make my lips look plumper. :P

Thanks Kristi.  Yeah, I eat it quite regularly and have to keep buying a new bottle every couple of months.  Sometimes more often than that.

Most products will use something like cinnamon oil to plump the lips and yes, it can cause quite a reaction in some.  I have never tried it because my skin is pretty sensitive.

Oh that makes sense LIT.  My daughter's entire mouth area would swell up everytime she ate cinnamon.  She didn't care though, she'd eat cinnamon anyways.  She hasn't had a reaction like that in the past few years though.

I actually found out about it in a women's magazine.  Celeb make up artist tips or something like that.

I like my cinnamon either on buttered bread or in hot chocolate.  Yummy.  :)

Hmmm...I've never had a reaction to cinnamon like that. I've also heard of using capsicum or cayenne in lip balm to puff up the lips, but I've never had a reaction to that either. I wonder what the heck they used? It was supposedly natural ingredients and I wonder if I should avoid eating stuff like that now.

They use oils, which is a pretty concentrated form.  You would need to be exposed to a pretty sizable amount or be VERY sensitive to the ingredient.

IE My sister cannot eat more than a slice of orange and cannot drink pure orange juice at all.  I can eat an orange but not an orange every day.  She has always been that way whereas my allergic reaction just started showing up the last few years (good thing since the soccer coach always gave us orange slices to snack on at half time).

I never heard of anyone being allergic to oranges before! I've heard of peanut and milk allergies (which sound like a great big pain in the butt to me).  Be careful with eating oranges at all as your allergic reaction may get stronger with each exposure. That's how I got deathly allergic to cats.

By eating cats? At least that's an easy one to avoid ;)

But seriously, Angelsgirl's right. Allergies can escalate, and they can do so suddenly, resulting in an anaphylactic reaction without warning, which can be fatal. Avoiding an allergen entirely is the only way to avoid it, unless you can get treatment through an allergist.

That's a different type of "cat" you're thinking of! I have no allergies to those!  >:D

I owned a siamese cat (so I thought) for awhile because I was told that most people allergic to cat dander aren't allergic to siamese cats. Turned out she wasn't completely siamese. While I had only a slight reaction to her at first, I came down with the flu and between the virus and the cat allergy my asthma went into overdrive and landed my butt in the ER about three times until it got calmed down with steroid injections and other really not-so-fun stuff. Luckily, my boyfriend and I broke up not too long after and I had him take the cat so I didn't have give her to a stranger.

Allergic to citrus anyway, it is just the most common forms that we (as in my family) ate.

I do clementines when they are in season, yummy.  As for the whole dying part, it will happen one day anyway no need to overly worry about it.   ;D

Well, My mom is alergic to bananas and Im alergic to anise<sp?> one of the main ingredents in licorish<sp?>  or more commonly jajermister.....  Yeah, One shot and Im beyond goofy drunk and need to be taken to the hospital before the nights over....

On the makeup thing, some of the stuff my ex tried to use on me first off looked horrable, and secondly caused breakouts or worse....  Ive sence learned that I have way better taste than she does in makeup and clothes...  and secondly.. buy good makeup or you can end up paying a worse price....

Oh, and enhancers + certian adhesive + recently naired = painfull chemical reaction that nearly fused the stupid things to my skin perminantly......
