Something that had eaten away at him since he was a child had finally come to a head.

"I was unpacking when Neil ran into the kitchen as white as a sheet," recalls Meg, 59, a retired teacher.

"I thought someone had died. But in one breath he said: 'I've been reading on the internet about sex reassignment surgery and this doctor says he won't do it unless you're a non-smoker and you weigh under 14st and he won't operate on anyone over 50. I'm overweight, I smoke and I'm 48. I think I've left it too late!'"

That is a lovely article. They both sound like wonderful people :) Reading articles like this gives me hope that my relationship will sustain a trial like this when the time comes.

I feel very very fortunate to STILL be with my wife. She has been so amazing during my Transition and has encouraged me to the fullest. She is even helping me tell my "story" to friends and family so that they can deal with it better. Luckily, everybody loves her...so they listen. ;)
