How are breast forms made?

I ask this because none of the departments I turn to can seem to be able to make the kind of breasts I've dreamed of or can't seem to do so without socking me with a $5,000 - $8,000 quote. The staff from the Proactive Prosthesis department even told me they would be a lot of work. Well, I'm willing to undergo that hardwork myself since they are going to be breasts that I will be proud of!

So I'm looking at making the silicone breasts myself... and I wondering just how it's done. For me to accomplish this, I need to know how to replicate real human skin and to make breasts that behave like real ones. Has anyone ever done this?

I'm sure some of you might discourage me from going this route, but I'm going to try one more department: amazingbreasts.co.uk before deciding to make them myself. The way I would like for the aureoles to be made is kind of complex so it is understandable.

I have no idea. I bought my forms through http://www.thebreastformstore.com for around $150.
If you call them they will have you measure yourself and ask what size you are going for.

Well the are made as any silicon mold ,what is impotant is if the silicon used is not iritant for your skin.
Most silicons are poured under vacuum to remove bubbles ! search for silicon models and you find much info.

theatrical supply houses have the latex and other liquids that can be poured or painted on to give the impression of real skin so if you can make a mould of what you want you could do it for less than $5K.

might we ask why you need such breasts and nipples?

Smooth-on.com suppliers of material used to make things including prosthetic limbs.  I think you make a plaster cast of the body part, then you can make that part of the body and mold it with changes, then take another plaster cast of the modified body part so you have two molds then join them and pour in gels to form the item in a particular silicone (safe for skin and body) then one side of the modified limb fits to your natural body surface and the modified limb is displayed. Then make-up can be applied to suit your skin color.  The making of certain parts can be utilized to other areas like breasts, hips, buttocks but the hips and buttocks are subject to a lot of stress. Example sitting and standing and walking and also falling.

There is a lot of time taken in preparation, and the outcome really depends on your artistic and sculpting skills. One off casts cost a lot because this is the expertise in the make-up artist and the time they allocate to the job. So for a hobby at home the cost in time and wastage maybe high but if you are a creative person, heck why not try but make them medically safe too.

The important thing to realize is the gel is safe to use and not use any silicone due to vapors etc being absorbed into the skin and body contaminating it.
