an androgyne in the Girl Scouts

Basically the title says it all... I've recently come out as an androgyne and, yep, I'm in the girl scouts.

I saw no particular problem with this until I went to a garage sale that my troop was holding... while binding.
It wasn't entirely intentional, and I'm not sure anyone even really noticed, but... well, I felt weird about it.

I half want to stay and defy gender norms and just be an ass-kicking androgyne.

But I feel like I'm lying to the troop. There are some younger girls there and honestly I'd really like to hold a gender activity talking about the gender spectrum, unicorn forest, gays, etc. and then quickly resign from the troop. but I don't know how ethical that is either :/ so should I just sign off both girl and boy scouts for the rest of my life? I've been in girl scouts since I was five :/

Anyway, opinions welcome.

I currently work for the Girl Scouts .... it is a very accepting place ... I haven't officially come out but I present more as andro at work and with my work with volunteers.  I have never had a problem with volunteers or supervisors.

Girl Scouts also accept mtf ---- so be yourself and don't worry about gender norms.  If you like the GIrl Scouts stick with it.  I loved it and I am a lifetime member ... Girl Scouts allowed me to be the boy inside of me without passing judgements.

I was in the girl scouts a couple years ago...for two weeks. I just felt like I didn't fit in so I left lol

Anyways, I don't think you should resign. It's obviously something you like, and if you care enough about the people in your troop to feel bad about keeping it a secret, than you must like them too.

What if you just had an activity where you talked about gender identity and stuff like that, then let it sink in for a few weeks, then tell them? Then at least they'll have an understanding about what you're talking about, and might accept you more.

I was in the scouts for a decade and a haf as both a scout and a leader and as I have only ever gone to all boys schools scouts was a great way to have friendships with girls and engage in activities with them.

Don't you guys have mixed scouts? We used to have boy scouts and guides in my country but then the boy scouts switched to being mixed and took in girls. This has meant the popularity of the guides has taken a huge hit. Quite rightly so. Mixed scouts is so much more awesome than guides!
