The way this thread went way off track I'd say the 15 Second attention span generation is winning

I think the seeming shift in demographics has a lot to do with today's lifestyles. For us dinosaurs, I'd guess most of our lives were well set on a path of no return by the time we got out of h/s or university. You could not wait until the day came when you can leave the nest and not ever again have to deal with that "As long as you are living under this roof..." dreaded line from your parents. Knowing how much they "encouraged" you to be out on your own they had to be glad also. You got a job, married, divorced, married again, 2.3 kids etc.. Today, I am pretty much shocked by how a large number 30 somethings can have no idea what they want of their life. A lot has changed in 30-40 years.
Many of us old folks simply feel trapped by our choices. We stuff, suppress, and beat the monster down often with a fair amount of success for decades. Long before Al Gore invented the internet TG sites existed, developed followings, and we all slowly learned that we weren't the only one (besides Christine Jorgensen) in the world who felt this way. (BTW - I've been lurking at Susan's for almost as long as there has been a Susan's. Just too afraid of the consequences of reconsidering for a third time what I should be doing with my life)
Today, there are other viable options, besides suicide, that are realizable. Best to consider before fixing a course for your life, while the freedom is there to choose. Life does get in the way of life.
In a sense, I think it is a healthy sign for society in general that there are youngins here.
