I'm not that much into manga, but I do enjoy my fair dose of anime. I haven't really seen any anime of the gender bending genre though. I wanted to watch  Hourou Musuki but couldn't find a complete download for it.
I also have Kampfer sitting here for me to watch, but I'm not quite sure if I wanna watch it yet, as it sounds quite perverted, and I'm not really into that sort of thing.

I do like love story anime the most though, like Clannad, Da Capo, Ai Yori Aoshi, etc.
But my favorite anime ever is Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien. The thing is, I don't recommend anyone to actually watch it because it's very sad and made me depressed for a few days after having watched it :(

Think we have quite a number of fans here. Though most just pop in now and again.

If there are enough of you interested, you might want to suggest to the mods they start a sub board in the Entertainment section.

I understand manga is quite unique and while similar to cartoons, is a separate artform in itself. That's certainly how it appears.

Not into manga/anime...at all. That is, unless it's gory like Guyver, genocyber, macross, or Evangelion.

But it gets a +1 for addressing issues that western comic book media does not...such as subcultures, gender, etc.

I think 85% of the board is into some kind of fantasy outlet. There's like two  girls who are "drag" queens.

Woo Hoo!

Also, at the risk of starting a riot: Anime/Manga, what is the difference?  (No, really!  I've kinda wanted to get into one or both but I don't know much about them or how even to get started).

Anime: Stories told through animation, generally Japanese in origin. This can also be used as a term for a specific art style.
Manga: Stories told through comic books, generally Japanese in origin. Many animes start out as mangas originally.

To start, I recommend going on a site like One Manga or Manga Fox and start with something that's popular for Mangas. For anime I recommend Crunchy Roll. Otherwise you could always google "genre + anime (or) manga". That's one of the ways I found out about a lot of TG related anime/mangas.

For mangas I used to read a lot of One Piece, Fairy Tail, Bo-BoBo Bo Bo-BoBo, and Ranma 1/2. As for animes I used to watch a lot of One Piece and I also became quite fond of Gintama, although I've found that watching anime is way more time consuming than just reading the manga equivalents.

I haven't read any mangas or watched any anime in a long time to be honest. I think I've kind of outgrown it to an extent, or at least I'm not nearly as obsessive about them as I used to be.

I've been a HUGE Ranma 1/2 fan for most of my life. But I absolutely love Macross Plus because of the music, animation style and the aircraft designs.  My friend, Matt Thorn is doing the official English translation for Hourou Musuko and I posted a link to the anime here a while back. Kanfer is just big boobs and a little combat. I just got done watching Macross Frontier which also has great action, animation and music, but also a male pilot who is often mistaken for a female. In fact some of his classmates call him Princess.
But there is a ton of anime and Manga I have seen and read and my list of favorites would be far too long.

manga-book story told in art form generally used to start anime as well as any long draw anime has a manga because that allows a greater following and story and budget to be allowed for anime ie naruto

anime- animations generally draw and designed by well know Japanese artists where as manga is a great way to start you career. anime is watched manga you read :)

and hey keep to topic no advertising ;)

All I have to say about manga is catching up on one piece, from scratch, is really taking a lot more effort than I imagined. 250~/680~, why do I not remember any of the other mangas I read taking this much effort?!

Lol I watched the anime when the manga was on about 580 or so trying to catch up. It took me nearly a year and a half to catch up on all of the anime (this is watching maybe 1-3 eps per day). Then reading the manga afterwards took me about a week or two to catch up all the way.

I also tried to read the manga from scratch so I wouldn't miss anything, then after a few chapters I was like, "I already know this story! Moving on!"

The effort was well worth it. If I only watched a single anime or read a single manga series, One Piece would have to be it! The storyline is just plain great!

Also for those of you that don't know, later on (much later) there's a character who controls hormones. Although T and E aren't the only hormones they control, they do change between male and female all the time, and can change other people to male and female whenever they feel like it. Honestly, (s)he is probably the best character in that entire series ;D.
