My doctor called me back this morning and told me that I must stop taking estrodiol now. It feels like I got kicked in the stomach. I'm trying hard not to cry at work.

Over the past month I started having migraines and the last one with a classic migraine aura. My family doc was really concerned so I called the doctors prescribing my hormones. She said that there is a real risk of stroke and that I have to stop. Now I have to see a neurologist and once I get the report from him we can talk again about estradiol at a really low dose but there is no guarantee.

This whole thing had left me scared, confused and uncertain about the future of my transition. I just so grateful that I have a therapy appointment this afternoon.

im so sorry you had to stop but constant migraines could be in an indicator of your body warning you of a stroke. It may be nothing but your doctor is being very thoroughness in this.

I will certainly be sending positive energies your way!

Wow, Hannah, that's terrible.

Hopefully, all this can get sorted out for you.

Estrogen does tend to affect migraines, so it may be nothing more than that. Migraines, if they don't have a scarier cause, are basically sensory phantoms. They don't do any damage other than the pain itself.

I've had migraines for 11 years, and I knew going on HRT might be an... interesting experience. I've been through a few rough patches, but they are mostly under control. Try not to think of it as hopeless, and wait till you've talked to the neurologist. If there isn't something serious causing the migraines then you could be fine to continue. You'd just need something to treat the migraines.

Really hope it works out,

Sarah
