'Boy should not join Girl Scouts'
CNN Newsroom|Added on October 30, 2011

Apparently, there has been some heat generated at the Girl Scouts allowing transgender children who identify as female to be allowed into the Girl Scouts.

Here is a video of a Psychologist saying that it is harmful to allow this to happen as seen on CNN:

Out of society's derision of transgender people, and Bobby's gender identity, the latter is not what should be discouraged...

The 'experts' entire argument was centered around the fact that the child would face negative social sanction.

Because society will react negatively...

Welcome to the neo-dark age.

If you only know yourself, but not your opponent, you may win or may lose.
If you know neither yourself nor your enemy, you will always endanger yourself.

funny thing isn't it? The psychologist was talking about how parents need to be parents and about how this kid will be discriminated against. But yet no mention about how healthy it is for a kid to explore who they are or that maybe kids need to come to understand ont everyone is the same and be mature about it... hmmmm.

Sadly, can't access the report here. Did a search on the CNN site which offered a link, but that didn't work either. Don't understand or accept this ridiculous censorship.

From the sound of it though, this would appear to be yet another charlitan peddling his politics.

I like the fact the "experts" name is Tartt. *Thought I think Tardd would be appropriate.

Yes I know it's not a very thought provoking and scientific comment, however This is soo much wrong with this guy that I don't think anything more needs to be said. Besides, a member reminded me of another "social issue" that kid is going to face if the mother does as this "expert" suggests and that is the unacceptable boys and girls anyways because he's not a stereotypical boy or girl. so either way he's going to have issues. I would let him express himself so he doesn't have the stress of suppressing his real identity added onto the social interactions on top of that.

I know she will have lots of nonacceptance,  but not all of it will be about her gender identity. Prolly about her hair, her cloths, sports, or who she is associated with.

When most of us grew up, it was completely unaccepted to come out when we were young, or to even explore that we may be a boy or a girl. For my wife and I, if we had told our parents when we were young, we would be dead, accused of being spawn of satan, or some such. But now adays the acceptance level is going up.

She was able to tell her family and have it supported by them, I have even heard of alot of acceptance in public. Yes, she still has a storm to deal with, but not to the degree that we did. Maybe 85 to 90% compared to the 100% alot of us had to deal with.

-She won't be accepted by boys or girls if allowed to express her true gender - I'll only speak for myself here. I wasn't accepted by boys or girls when I was young, either. In my case, the girls shunned me because I was physically male and I had been 'discouraged' from expressing myself, while boys shunned me because male socialization never took with me, and I just couldn't fake it well enough.
True here as well.

-Gay men are apparently the opposite of 'macho' - Are you kidding me?
My experience with gay males was almost entirely negative.  I had no problems whatsoever with the lesbians though.

Edit: See why I don't like CNN or FOX?  However, the FOX interview with experts was more balanced than CNN here.  J.

Sadly there is a chance too that the "expert" was paid extra to follow what CNN wanted told be heard :'(

And so, in order to protect the child in question from receiving undue social stigma, the expert decided to make her effort to join the Girl Scouts of America a national headline. It's okay if you had to do a double take while reading that. I had to do one while WRITING it. But it's true.
