I went in for my first visit to the endo today. Until today, I've been self medicating. First, let me start off by saying it's very difficult to find an endo that will do this around here, as I live in a very bible beltish area! I went in today and let the doctor know I've been self medicating. She looked at my dosages (which the amount I take seem pretty standard to anyone around the net) and she went "Woah you started off pretty high, you aren't playing around!" She took my vitals, felt my thyroid etc etc, and interviewed me. She had me take labs and interviewed me. During the interview, she says she has experience dealing with mtfs, but admitted to me that I am first patient she's had that she gets to basically start on. She also said "If you think we should be doing something different, let me know and I will be glad to research it!"
Long story short, she prescribed me the exact dosage I have been taking. I am awaiting my blood results still so I cannot tell you what my levels are atm. I have refills that will last me 5 months, my next appointment is in 3 months. The best part: she worded my diagnosis in a way that was able to get my insurance to cover my prescription! I WAS ABLE TO GET MY PILLS FOR FREE!
Personally, I'm more than happy to be her first patient basically "starting" HRT under her care if she is going to work with me. She was very sweet, polite, open minded, and most importantly, she wrote my scrip and all I have to pay for is the doctors visit / lab
