I am a part-time college professor, and I'm looking for full-time jobs. Primarily, I'm looking for teaching or administrative jobs in academia. I'm eager to talk to other academics who have transitioned and learn what their experiences in the work place have been like. Thanks!

There is a woman over here in GB that transitioned.   She teaches either physics or astronomy.

I transitioned on the job at my old uni. Everyone was terrific. Now, if only I could get rid of my old RMP comments that still call me "she."

Does GB = Green Bay? My best friend actually lives there (a CISwoman who I met in grad school).

No 'GB' stands for 'Great Britain.'

I just found out that one of the professors at my University is a transguy. He's well paid and has been here for a few years now. It's a relief for me, because I want to work in academia one day. From my understanding, a lot of higher education institutes are a little more accepting. Not all, of course, but I think it is also the nature of things. Universities tend to be a little more lax (at least, the not-private ones) and more accepting, given the fact that it serves as a place for conversation and for a lot of people a place of self-discovery.

I'm surprised nobody mentioned Ben Barres. I thought he was the famous one.

I think you might be talking about one of my alma maters. There's supposed to be a trans guy on faculty there.

There's also staff member at one of my schools who is a trans man.

Nearly pees myself laughing.

I sure hope you don't study Geography, Politics or Global Affairs.
