Chris' journey hasn't been an easy one.

There are photographs all over the wall at the Mari's home, showing
pictures of Chris, 11-year-old Jeana, and 8-year-old Brenden.

But all of the photographs show Chris as a boy. He doesn't want to
see photographs of himself when he was known as Julia.

His mother said her child has always known he was in the wrong body.

"Chris has been dealing with this his whole life," she said. "This
does not happen overnight. You do not wake up saying I want to be the
opposite sex."
