Sailor Moon?

just a random question, did any of you ever watch Sailor Moon when you were younger? my cousin just bought the whole dvd set (she's not an anime geek  ) but she likes it and i recall me and her watching it when we were younger.... some of my family members didnt like that i watched it with her cuz it was suppost to be a girl's show. Anyway that show just made me wanna be a girl even more haha

I watched it sporadically for about a year or two when I first started secondary school, over a decade ago.

And funny that should come up, since one of my secondary school teachers just told me today in an email that he remembers I used to like Sailor Moon...

However I wasn't really interested any more after a while, and when the last series Sailor Stars was being broadcast on TV, I didn't watch it at all.

i was obsessed. I wanted to be sailor saturn and i would dress up as her all the time.

Watched... uh, hells yeah!

Me and a couple of my MTF friends were the Sailor Scouts for Halloween like 3 years ago. We needed 2 more to be Sailor Jupiter and Sailor Venus for a complete set.

  OMgosh yes! Those two talking cats Luna and Artemis were so fricking adorable! I wanted a kitten just like Luna. <3

  That Darren guy and his alter ego tuxedo mask were kinda cute too lol.

The best thing about the whole show is how everyone looks exactly the same in their costumes, but everyone's like "OMG WHO COULD THAT BE?!"

EDIT: the same as in, to their normal outfit, not the same as each other.

I watch it now. In my network, each computer is named for a Sailor.

The same company (CLAMP) made another series I like, Card Captor Sakura. (Whatever you do, don't watch the English dub version!!!!!). I'd love to be Sakura.

My interest is entirely shoujo with only a couple of exceptions.

I watched that too. It was the first show I ever saw when we got cable. As for Sailor Moon, I've mixed feelings about it. The dubbed version by DIC was just butchered to heck. But when I found them online and subtitled, I have enjoyed a few episodes from time to time. Of course that's the only way you will get to see the last series, Sailor Stars. That's where it got kind of neat because 5 Senshi come to earth and their disguise is a boy band. And their whole bodies became male.

Funny you should mention that. When I was younger, I watched Sailor Moon, Both in Japanese and English and the idea of being able to be sexy in those skimpy outfits, yet be strangely empowered forced me to alter my thinking of who I was... It was at that point that I told my mother I was a girl on the inside and that sailor moon was my idol... has, much to her chagrin, I was still allowed to watch it... as long as I watched 5 episodes of Power Rangers first. I am not a dojo head in martial arts for females in my area... hahaha take THAT mom!

I watched it abit it was okay not a favorite show I did find it more amusing in retrospect when I rewatched a few episodes she actually cannot read or write and when she reads signs she sounds them out like a 4 year old might... She's not abit dim She's functionally ILLITERATE.

What a role model for young kids eh?

I think the point of the show at the time was "Female Empowerment" not "Literacy amongst the youth" Otherwise we'd all be wearing mini skirts, hanging upside down by our legs trying to elongate them and shouting at every hideous creature that roams this earth that we shall "Punish them, in the name of the moon!"

I really liked Sailor Moon growing up, but couldn't watch it as often as things like Cardcaptor Sakura because it only aired here on a cable channel we didn't have. I did finally sit down last year and watch it all unsubbed for Japanese listening practice, though!

Ok, I wasn't young when this came out, but if I had to live in any animated universe, I would totally hang out with Coop. In fact, this show might just sum up everything about me.

Despite being a guy, I loved Sailor Moon. Well, I adored the 5th season with the Starlights. I wanted to be that kind of boy when I grew up. But, I was equally crazt about TMNT and Inspector Gadget...

I loved that show and still do but i love anime. Sailor moon was the first anime i watched =).  Always wanted to have a close group of girlfriends like her!
