For a long time I have always used a beard trimmer set on 4 ~ 5 to keep my man brows under control, but of course it's all irrelevant now and I am longing to have a feminine set of brows... I began today by trimming them down to like a 2 then started to pluck the hairs, and damn does it hurt...

Is there a better way to do this at home?  What kind of shop does eyebrow waxing?

I work with a group of manly men and wonder if this will really set me apart... (I really don't care in the long run!).

Thank you  :-*

Hair & Nail Salons should be the place to go..

But I suggest looking at some eyebrow styles before going.. Because you'll want to find something that matches your face.

It hurts a bit the first time yes :). But it will feel alot less after a few times.

When I started plucking it did hurt a bit, but now when I do it it is more of a tingling feeling to it :P.

And yes look at a few different styles and which ones that may work on your face, because the eyebrows can really change your looks and you want them to make you look better and not the other way around.

The first time I did it I used an eyeliner pencil to draw the shape I wanted and had that as a reference :).

Regarding other males reactions, I am working in a very manly environment and of course you can tell the diffrence if you look at them and then me, and I know that they can tell, but I have never gotten into trouble because of it. So I think its no big issue if you stand out as confident and secure in who you are. People respect you alot more if you look confident.

Plucking the eyebrows was easy......it was plucking the moustache, over and over that really hurt.  But now only about 18 holdouts are left that rear their ugly, much finer shafts once a couple weeks or so, and out they go!  About the brows?  don't be afraid to kill the unibrow forever.  Pull, don't pluck, clearing the underside up until you get the thickness you like.

I would say the eyebrows bring out one of the biggest transformations. I pluck, but its been getting pretty repetitive. This might be good advise, but follow the natural arc. Also If you are unsure of how thin or thick you should have them, use one of those virtual makeover online. I can't remember if they all support the eyebrow shaping. However, I went on this one and saw how I looked too thin and too thick, so it gave me an idea what to shoot for.

Good Luck!!

Pain is beauty... Beauty is pain. After several years, I hardly feel a thing now. I'd personally never pay anyone to pluck my brows. Way too simple and easy to do myself at home IMHO.

Just don't go too thin or it will look un-natural.

Pro-tips: A hot (not so hot it burns your face mind) flannel on your eyebrows can make it hurt a bit less when you pluck, also once you get to the desired elvel it really isnt a lot of effort to keep it there, I spent about an hour plucking once and since then i do maybe 3 mins a day and a 10 min extra tidy-up once a week. And the pain gets less the more you do it, i hardly notice it now and it nearly made me cry the first time!

You can also take an icecube and rub it over your eyebrow before you start plucking. That will numb the skin a little. :)

I plucked mine yesterday, hurts alot but I got used to it :/
I create a shape using eyeshadow or eyeliner and I pluck the hairs around that shape mostly. This sounds weird but I try to enjoy the pain as I beautify myself.

Go to a professional.

Yeah totally. If you're a beginner then going to a salon and having a professional wax & shape your brows is wiser then DIY and ending up with messed up brows or even no brows lol.  :D

BreanneRose,

You know for first time makeup, eyebrows, anything...go to a PROFESSIONAL. Chances are, most of the women here don't know what they are doing. Chances are, they will be able to bring out the female in you....as opposed to you doing it, and so far...the results are meh.

okay......maybe sometimes

Not really. We have people who want to get paid for their goods and services. I suggest we patronize them.
