Apparently not only is Jesus upset that a city manager elsewhere is transsexual but our founding fathers would hate LGBT folks too

I am disappointed that Bryan Sebeck is promoting the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender lifestyles (GLBT), (letter to the editor, Feb. 28, "Riders trying to end oppression").

Proverbs 30:12: "There is a generation that are pure in their own eyes, and yet is not washed from their filthiness." Living this ungodly lifestyle is unhappy, unhealthy and unsatisfying. Studies show that GLBT's are the consequences of pain, abuse or dysfunction (not genetics), and result in early death, disease, cancer, confusion, social rejection, etc. (www.lovewonout.

com and 1-800-AFAMILY). I am promoting the Christian lifestyle: not confusing, pure, righteous and pleasing to God.

I'm promoting the "stop pretending you know what God does or doesn't want" lifestyle.

I feel a hate crime coming on! I would just love to give this person a dose of their own medicine.

So GLBT results in early death because God wants them to die or could it be because the most current studies have shown a link between early death and disease in people that lack a strong social network. Being that this dipwad and others like him want to continue to socially isolate GLBT people, they are producing a self-fulfilling prophesy. BTW: How in fact is "not confusing" part of the Christian lifestyle anyway? Last time I checked Scripture was pretty frickin' confusing and my 3.7 GPA, Honor Society inducted butt is not too stupid to read it, so I pretty sure it isn't just me! "Not confusing"...feh! All of life is confusing, if it's not confusing it's not really being alive, it's just following your programming to its pre-written conclusion for you! Screw that! Not me! I'd rather die early than die boring, so eat a bag of it, Bible Thumper!

I find it interesting that the majority of her quotes were Old Testament....the same Old Testament that states not to wear clothing of mixed fibers such as linen and wool (Deut. 22-11), that calls for a woman not found a virgin on her wedding night be brought to her father's door and stoned to death by the men of the city (Deut. 22-21).  I find it amazing that some of these right wing nuts can always find a Bible verse to support their narrow minded views but refuse to take the Bible as a whole.

And as for her statement, " 'Religious and political oppression' are not directed at the individual, but at sinful acts."  All I can say is I buy that male bovine byproduct at Home Depot to use on my roses.

I particularly enjoyed the last line of her tirade:

... "and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."

Good luck in finding it with that attitude sister.  To find the truth, you have to approach it with an open mind.  If you already "know" the truth, you will never find it, even if it slaps you in the face.

Her other arguments about the founding fathers using religious text as a basis.... You know what? They sort of did, didn't they? Some of that language is beautiful. And they also put a separation of church and state clause in the ole doc didn't they?  There was a very good reason for that. They were afraid of unjust influence by "the" church on the state.

I love it when people spout the religious values of the founding fathers. Check out the religious "values" that Jefferson and Franklin had.  Not much there? You got it. The connection trying to validate the USA as a "Christian" nation from the founding fathers perspective is practically non-existant.

And besides, what has that to do with our current problems? Really? If we "were" ever a "Christian" nation, we certainly are not now. We have people of many faiths. We have many moral people who do not cater to religions. We are a mixed society.

It is so easy to see why people become disenchanted in their religion with people like this constantly spewing their filth.

From your loving and most hated sinner, with no humility in her heart,

Not to pick at nits my dear, loving sinful sister :-* but they didn't.  They put in a clause forbidding Congress from establishing a religion for the country.  The phrase separation of church and state actually came from a letter in 1802 by Thomas Jefferson to the Danbury Baptists, "I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof, thus building a wall of separation between Church and State."

He also wrote in the Virginia Statute for Religious Freedom, "... no man shall be compelled to frequent or support any religious worship, place, or ministry whatsoever, nor shall be enforced, restrained, molested, or burthened in his body or goods, nor shall otherwise suffer on account of his religious opinions or belief; but that all men shall be free to profess, and by argument to maintain, their opinion in matters of religion, and that the same shall in no wise diminish enlarge, or affect their civil capacities."

Sounds like old Tom might be spinning in his grave at this lot we have now.

Yea Bev, I know, you're right.  I'm sorry... it's just a little hard to explain the long chain of events, including the supreme court cases.  In any case, what so many people are trying to do now IS make a state religion supported by the government.  Quite honestly, I never thought that I'd ever see this in my life time.

And g-d help us all if they ever decide to follow every single one them! As a Jew, I always wonder why Christians quoting the old testament aren't following our kosher dietary laws. I think the old testament had more to say about eating shrimp and pork than it did about GLBT concerns. ;)

And when a quote dosent do it they just stuff their words (and hate) into the mouth of Jesus.
